By Khushi Jain / January 12, 2022

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is currently one of the most popular anime globally. With such stunning graphics and an intriguing storyline, it's no wonder that it has managed to gain such a strong fanbase; let us not forget the over-powered characters too.

With a shounen anime like Demon Slayer, there's bound to be some really strong characters that will blow our minds with some crazy skills and abilities. And that got us wondering: Who is the strongest character on Demon Slayer? Can our favorite characters be considered one of the strongest characters in the series?

We bet you are wondering the same. Worry no more! We have made you a list of the top 10 strongest characters on Demon Slayer (Anime and Manga included). The list goes from 10th down to 1st rank. So sit back with some snacks and enjoy reading!

Spoiler Alert!

This article includes spoilers from manga and anime. Read at your own risk.

10. Rengoku Kyojuro: Flame Hashira

Rengoku Kyojuro

We are ready to fight anyone for this man. That's how much we like him. He used flame breathing techniques and even managed to master all of its forms. Kyojuro had even more potential than he was given credit for; before his tragic demise in his fight against Akaza, the upper rank 3 of the 12 Kizuki demons.

The very demon that took him out (Akaza. We really wish we could enter the Demon Slayer universe to throw some hands. But that's for another time) acknowledged his strength and even offered to get him made into a demon. But Kyojuro respectfully declined. He would rather die protecting humans than become a demon that would harm them.

9. Kamado Tanjiro

Our lead boy Tanjiro deserves to be on this list, even in his human form (Gasp. More on this later). He is currently the only user of the Hinokami Kagura dance. He can use the sun breath technique - which is basically the progenitor of all of the other breathing techniques; Kyojuro's father had accounted for this.

Our lead boy had managed to behead Akaza and kill Enmu (Lower Kizuki 1) in the same night. He can also fight along with Hashira without hindering them, which is a remarkable feat considering his rank among the demon slayers. But that's not the only reason that makes him a contender to be on the top 10 list.

We can go on and on about him but let us keep it short. Now, on to the next one.

8. Tokito Muichiro: The Mist Hashira

This man is no joke. He became a Hashira in merely two months after joining the Corps. Muichiro is a master of all forms of Mist Breathing techniques; his mastery is so prolific that he can also come up with new breathing forms. He is considered to be a genius amongst the Hashira.

His abilities are strong enough to overwhelm an Upper Kizuki demon; even go as far as to kill it, if he accesses "Transparent World" - a power that allows the demon slayers to perceive the world in slow motion; as well as enable them to see the inner workings of people, down to their blood flow.

7. Sanemi Shinazugawa: The Wind Hashira

Shinazugawa easily has the best and one of the strongest abilities among the Hashira. He is a user of Wind breathing techniques and is incredibly powerful, so much so that his strength is even acknowledged by Kokushibo, upper rank 1 of Kizuki demons. If that is not enough, he even survived a fight against Muzan himself.

Moreover, this man's got a special type of blood that causes even stronger demons to lose their mind. It's the equivalent of (drug name) among the demons and causes severe intoxication. Which, in our opinion, is a great bait to lure the demons out.

6. Akaza: Upper Kizuki Rank 3

Akaza: Upper Kizuki Rank 3
Akaza

Here comes the character that we particularly hate the most because of what he did to Kyojuro. Akaza is the Upper Rank 3 demon among the twelve Kizuki demons. He is practically invincible and indestructible, as he stubbornly won't die even after being beheaded.

He's got an impressive arsenal of powers and rapid regeneration, which is what allowed him to rejoin his head after Tanjiro had sliced it off. He even put up a great fight against Kyojuro and eventually managed to kill him; we must say, his incredible reflexes and speed played a significant role in his victory.

5. Douma: Upper Kizuki Rank 2

Douma: Upper Kizuki Rank 2
Douma

Like Akaza, Douma possesses incredible powers and rapid regeneration of limbs and body parts. He was previously ranked 6th among the upper Kizuki demons and slowly crawled his way up to 2nd.

His ability allows him to manipulate and generate ice from his body which can suck on blood and causes degeneration of cells, leading to death. If it weren't for his status as the upper rank 2 demon, Akaza could have outdone him, what with his head regeneration ability.

But still, he is too strong to be taken lightly. He met his tragic end by death by Wisteria poison after devouring Kocho Shinobu.

4. Gyomei Himejima: The Stone Hashira

Inosuke considered Gyomei to be the strongest among the Hashira, even after being disabled (blind). And honestly? We completely agree. He wields a devastatingly strong battle-ax with a flail attached at the end by a chain. Combined with his stone breathing forms, he easily marks the strongest among the Hashira.

Kokushiba even went as far as to say that he hadn't encountered such an enemy in the last 300 years. He claimed that Gyomei's physical abilities and strength had been trained to perfection. If this is not enough to put him on this list, we don't know what else will.

3. Kokushibo: Upper Kizuki Rank 1

Kokushibo

His status itself is enough to include Kokushibo on this list. The demon slayer turned demon is so strong that he was only defeated after losing his will to fight. He would have been invincible if he kept at it and fought more.

When he was a demon slayer, he used the Moon breathing forms to wield his blade. In his demon form, his breathing techniques only enhanced and aided him in his abilities, easily putting him just below Muzan himself.

Fun fact: He only became a demon after he got jealous of the strength of his brother Yoriichi Tsugikuni. He, later on, regretted this decision and accepted his defeat. Oh, and... he's got three pairs of eyes.

2. Kibutsuji Muzan

Kibutsuji Muzan
Kibutsuji Muzan

This man is the sole reason that Demons exist in the first place. Muzan is the first-ever demon to come into existence and is the only demon that can turn humans into demons. He has existed for ages and has managed to gain incredible strength and skills as a fighter. And to let you in on an inside joke, we think he looks like Micheal Jackson (at least in his prefered form, he does).

His blood can turn a human into a demon, but it can also turn a demon into a stronger demon. The concentration of his blood into one's body determined their strength as a demon. Other than that, he possessed like seven hearts and five brains, which is probably why he was so strong, to begin with. And he can also shapeshift. We are just putting it out there.

1. Tsugikuni Yoriichi

Tsugikuni Yoriichi
Tsugikuni Yoriichi As Remembered By Kibutsuji Muzan

Yoriichi is said to be the strongest demon slayer to have ever existed. He is like a god among the warriors of the Demon Slaying Corps. This man is the true origin of all the breathing techniques that exist in the demon slayer universe. He is the user of sun breathing techniques and the "Hinokami Kagura" dance that Tanjiro had strongly emphasized since season 1.

His strength is so fearsome that a fight with him had instilled immense fear in Muzan's psyche. This claim can be supported by his reaction to seeing Tanjiro's earring, which had once belonged to Yoriichi.

Yoriichi easily deserves the number one spot on this list because of his abilities and strength.

Special Mention

These characters couldn't make it on the list because we couldn't decide where to put them. They are both incredibly strong; hence they deserve a special mention on this list.

Demon King Tanjiro

Yep. If anime follows the manga closely, Tanjiro will become a demon so strong that he could even overpower Muzan. He becomes resistant to the sun and becomes incredibly strong. Even in his human form, Tanjiro was strong; becoming a demon who had a demon slayer mark and used sun breathing techniques just made him too powerful, to be honest.

Also, he only became a demon because Muzan transferred some of his blood to Tanjiro before perishing. But luckily, The Corps and Tamayo were able to turn him back to a human.

Kamado Nezuko

This cutie just has to be here. Just like Tanjiro, she is also resistant to the sun and can perform rapid regeneration on par with the upper kizuki demons. She is oddly capable of restoring her powers just by sleeping a lot; she can grow them without consuming humans.

She can even alter her body size - which is how Tanjiro could carry her around on his back. Her blood demon art shockingly possesses properties that are capable of significantly harming other demons. (And let us not forget how she destroyed Daki's head just by a barefooted kick).

You can watch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba on Netflix.
