It’s Easy to Watch ‘Elementary’ Live Online: Elementary, My Dear Watson!

By Gabriela Vatu / March 8, 2019

Who doesn't love a little bit of mystery and drama? We'll take things a step further and ask who doesn't love Sherlock Holmes? We know we do! Well, if you want to watch Elementary live online, we're here to help you out by telling you what options you have.

Elementary is yet another TV portrayal of the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle character, but it has a bunch of twists. First, the show takes place in the current day and age, and then, Dr. Watson is a woman. The series features Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes, while Lucy Liu plays Dr. Joan Watson. Since we're loving this gender-swap, the evil Moriarty is also played by a woman, namely Natalie Dormer.

The show is up at its seventh season, which will also be the last, CBS announced. So far, there's been no announcement regarding the exact premiere date, but the network did mention "spring" so it should happen soon. The day the show will air is also unclear at this point, especially since the previous episodes have aired on multiple days of the week. Let's go ahead and learn more about watching Elementary online.

Can I Stream Elementary Live on CBS for Free?

Unfortunately, we're going with a "no" here. Unlike other TV networks, CBS doesn't feature a live stream on its website. Well, not for free anyway. In fact, the network wants to push its own streaming service called CBS All Access, but for which you have to pay. We'll go more in-depth as we discuss all the live TV platforms you can watch Elementary on.

What Live TV Platforms Can You Watch Elementary On?

We live in the digital age and it shows - we do everything online. Whether we're discussing with friends online, working, shopping, or binging on our favorite TV shows, it's our go-to solution. Traditional cable companies keep pushing prices up and those who want to customize their plans find they are unable to. Then, when they want to cancel the subscription, they get to spend way too much time on the phone with employees trained to do everything they can to keep the customers from quitting. Live TV Platforms are considerably cheaper, they can be customized to some extent and you can cancel your plan in under a minute. Plus, with live TV platforms, you can watch wherever you want, not just at home, as long as you're connected to the Internet and you have a compatible device. Let's go ahead and learn all about these platforms you can subscribe to watch without a cable subscription.

fuboTV - At the top of our list, we have fuboTV, which is a great service, especially for sports lovers, given the impressive number of dedicated networks. The platform has two main bundles called fubo and fubo Extra. Thankfully, CBS is present in both of them, so you can pick whichever one you like best or has the right price for your wallet. There are also a bunch of sports channel packs you can add, as well as several premium networks. Check out our fuboTV review to better understand what the service has to offer.

Hulu - Next up, we have Hulu. This one is a platform everyone knows thanks to the video on demand platform it's been offering for a long time. Now, for $44.99 per month, subscribers can enjoy dozens of TV channels, including CBS, and they can also access the full video-on-demand library. There are a couple of packs available you can add if you want more channels, as well as some premium networks, we're sure you'll love. TechNadu's Hulu review provides all the details you'll want to know before making a decision.

YouTube TV - Another great alternative is to subscribe to YouTube TV, which is a great service with some nifty perks that come thanks to Alphabet Inc and those massive servers they own. The $40 per month plan includes dozens of channels. CBS is present in the bundle of channels they offer. There are also some really cool features you can find more about by reading our YouTube TV review. Also, if you want to customize the service in any way, you can add some premium networks.

DirecTV Now - Another fabulous option you also have is DirecTV Now, a very versatile platform. There are five bundles to choose from, three International bundles, a couple of packs with Spanish-language channels, as well as several premium networks. If you're searching for CBS, you'll luckily find it in all five bundles - Live a Little, Just Right, Go Big, Gotta Have It, and Todo y Mas. This means you have free range to pick whichever one you like best. Make sure to read TechNadu's DirecTV Now review to find out more.

PlayStation Vue - The platform that managed to get the highest score among all live TV services when we reviewed them is PlayStation Vue. The service offers four bundles to choose from, but you have the freedom to add a couple more packs of channels if you feel like you need more, as well as several premium networks. CBS is present in all four bundles - Access, Core, Elite, and Ultra. Our PlayStation Vue review comes with all the details you need to know before subscribing to the platform, including all about the features they offer subscribers.

CBS All Access - We also need to discuss CBS All Access. The platform offers two subscription plans - one that costs $5.99 per month and comes with some ads, and one that costs $9.99 per month and features no ads. Regardless of which one you'll pick, the service offers access to dozens of TV series on demand, as well as the CBS live stream so you can watch what the channel is broadcasting at any given time. Read our CBS All Access review to find out more.

Sling TV - We also need to mention Sling TV here. Technically, the platform doesn't feature CBS, but you can get it in a roundabout way. The platform comes with three main bundles and a really wide range of channel packs you can add, plus a great selection of premium networks. If you really want to get Sling TV, you can pay for two months of subscription and they'll give you a free digital antenna, which you can use to watch CBS with. Read our Sling TV review to find out if this is the right match for you.

What Should You Do If CBS Isn't Part of the Offer in Your Area?

There are several networks that can't be accessed from just any area of the United States, and CBS is part of this list. It's annoying, of course, but it is what it is and there's no much you can do to change things. So, if you live in a little city in Alaska, you may be unable to watch CBS the regular way. Thankfully a VPN can solve this issue. How? Well, sites, including live TV platforms, read your location by looking at your IP address. If you have a different IP address that matches, let's say, a metropolitan area, you're good to go to watch channels available in that particular area. Here's what you need to do.

Note: We have to take the time to mention that if you're ever traveling abroad, you can use the same method described above to bypass the geoblockade these platforms set up. As you may know, live TV services and even sites belonging to TV channels have set up geoblocks for the streams, so you need to be within the United States to enjoy them. Thankfully, a VPN can help circumvent the blockade entirely.

Can You Use Digital Antennas to Watch Elementary?

Of course, you can. Digital TV antennas were already mentioned when we discussed Sling TV, but you can get one from pretty much anywhere you want. TV antennas come with advantages and disadvantages, much like everything else in life. The device itself is pretty cheap and you get to watch TV for free afterward, but you have to limit yourself to only watching about a dozen channels.

Before spending the money on an antenna, make sure you check a site like TV Fool to figure out exactly what networks broadcast you can "catch" in your area and how strong the signal is. If the results are to your liking you can go ahead and buy the device you've been eyeing.

Can You Also Stream Older Elementary Seasons?

Sure you can. The first place you should go looking is the CBS All Access platform where you will find dozens of CBS shows, including Elementary. This is also a show that you can find on Hulu, and you can enjoy all six seasons that have aired so far.

If you'd rather own seasons and episodes of Elementary so you can enjoy whenever you may be, you can check out Amazon Prime, iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu, and the Microsoft Store.

We'd love to hear which way you choose to watch Elementary from here on out, so please drop us a message in the comments section below. Share the article online if you have the time, and please follow TechNadu on Facebook and Twitter to get access to tech news, reviews, guides, and interviews.
