Instagram May Add A Tap-To-Scroll Feature for Its Explore Section

By Nitish Singh / October 12, 2018

One of the most convenient features of the Stories section in Instagram is the ability to browse through all of your unseen Stories with a single tap. The same feature might be coming to the new Discover section as well according to some users.

A small number of Instagram users have reported that the app is currently testing a tap-to-scroll feature similar to Stories. Being able to move from one post to another by simply tapping on the screen is an intuitive and time-saving process. The update makes moving from one photo post to another as simple as tapping instead of scrolling repeatedly to go through your feed.

The platform has been undergoing a large number of changes this year with Instagram focusing on making the user experience less toxic. The app now has machine learning to assist in finding posts linked to bullying to automatically remove them. A new nametags feature was also added that makes adding other users as easy as scanning their tags using the Instagram app. School students are also being catered to by the platform with school and college specific-features that help users find their classmates and other users who are on the platform. A new IGTV feature was also added earlier this year to compete with Facebook Watch and other video sharing services.

Instagram has officially confirmed that it is working on the feature. A spokesperson revealed more details about the feature stating that it is indeed in the works and that the social media app is constantly trying to improve the user experience. There are a number of features that are constantly tested, but it does not mean that all of them make it to the final version of the app.
