AV-Comparatives has published its 2025 Anti-Phishing Comparative Test results, revealing how well security products, browsers, and VPNs like NordVPN performed against phishing threats throughout the year. The independent testing organization evaluated a total of 1,000 phishing URLs across four quarterly test rounds.
NordVPN’s built-in security feature, Threat Protection Pro, secured a strong overall performance, achieving a 90% phishing detection rate with zero false positives. This result placed it third among all products tested.
Last year, NordVPN became the first VPN service to be approved by AV-Comparatives for anti-phishing capabilities. It has now maintained its certification for a second year, remaining the only VPN provider with this recognition.
AV-Comparatives is an ISO-certified organization known worldwide for its independent cybersecurity testing. It performs scientific evaluations of antivirus and internet security products, offering transparent data for consumers, businesses, and security professionals.
To receive approval for Anti-Phishing Protection, products must meet two core criteria:
NordVPN met and exceeded these standards in 2025.
“Phishing websites pose a significant threat to internet users worldwide. They steal personal data, login credentials, and financial information, often before redirecting victims or disappearing. We are committed to protecting our customers from the impact of these sites,” said Domininkas Virbickas, Product Director at NordVPN.
While Threat Protection Pro offers an added layer of defense, phishing tactics continue to evolve. AV-Comparatives and NordVPN advise users to follow basic safety practices:
Threat Protection Pro is included in every NordVPN subscription and provides daily protection against malicious websites, trackers, ads, and harmful downloads.
