NordVPN’s Threat Protection Pro Ranks Third in AV-Comparatives’ 2025 Anti-Phishing Test

AV-Comparatives has published its 2025 Anti-Phishing Comparative Test results, revealing how well security products, browsers, and VPNs like NordVPN performed against phishing threats throughout the year. The independent testing organization evaluated a total of 1,000 phishing URLs across four quarterly test rounds.
NordVPN’s built-in security feature, Threat Protection Pro, secured a strong overall performance, achieving a 90% phishing detection rate with zero false positives. This result placed it third among all products tested.
Last year, NordVPN became the first VPN service to be approved by AV-Comparatives for anti-phishing capabilities. It has now maintained its certification for a second year, remaining the only VPN provider with this recognition.

How to Spot Phishing Websites
While Threat Protection Pro offers an added layer of defense, phishing tactics continue to evolve. AV-Comparatives and NordVPN advise users to follow basic safety practices:
- Verify the URL: Check for unusual domain variations, misspellings, or unexpected subpages.
- Read messages carefully: Look for unsolicited requests, urgent language, or errors that may signal a scam.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): Adds an extra login step so attackers can’t access accounts with just a stolen password.
- Check for HTTPS: Legitimate websites use HTTPS and display a padlock icon. A spoofed site may not.
