Can Naruto Still Use Sage of Six Paths Mode in Boruto?

By Evanshi Mavani / July 30, 2021

Naruto might no longer be the main character, but he still remains one of the strongest characters in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

In every world-shattering fight, Naruto plays an important part in maintaining the peace of Konohagakure and the shinobi world as a whole. However, it is true that he will get overshadowed by the newer generation sooner or later. Without the plot armor on his side, Naruto is vulnerable to death and defeat.

Unlike Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, where his strength continuously reached the next level without a limit in sight, it seems that Naruto has become weaker in the sequel. Furthermore, in the latest emotionally wrecking chapters of Boruto, Naruto has faced a devastating loss.

With this, many fans continue to wonder what his strength looks like now and whether Naruto has lost his Six Paths Sage Chakra as well. So how powerful is Naruto in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations at this point? Let's take a look!

Naruto Six Paths Sage Mode

Six Paths Sage Mode played an essential part in Naruto's victory against Madara and Kaguya Otsutsuki. But what exactly is this power?

Six Paths Sage Mode, also known as the Rikudo Sennin Mode, is a divine power gifted by Hagoromo Otsutsuki to Naruto Uzumaki. It significantly enhances the user's prowess and allows them to use a number of new techniques derived from the Six Paths.

The first time Naruto used the Sage of Six Paths Mode was with the nine truth-seeking balls during the Fourth Shinobi War. It looks eerily similar to Naruto's Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, making it difficult to differentiate the two. The only distinction between the two is that in the Six Paths Sage Mode, Naruto's eyes are yellow with a cross on his pupils.

Now that it's clear what the Sage of Six Paths Mode is, let's get to the question at hand — Can Naruto Uzumaki still use the Six Paths Sage Mode after the Fourth Great Ninja War?

Fans have debated this question for years after the conclusion of the series. The majority believe that Naruto does have access to the Sage of Six Paths Mode since, according to the Fourth Databook, the Six Paths Sage Mode is something that is given directly to him from Hagoromo. It is improbable that Naruto would lose his Sage of Six Paths chakra for no reason as Sasuke's Rinnegan, which also comes from Hagoromo, is still with him.

Naruto can still use the Sage of Six Paths Mode in Boruto since he has other Tailed Beasts' Chakra in him, as evidenced in his fight against Delta. Furthermore, Naruto has the seal on his palm, which signifies that he has the Rikudo chakra. It is also explicitly stated in the databook that Naruto used a combination of Kurama Chakra Mode and Sage Mode in 'The Last' movie.

Like his own chakra, the Sage of Six Paths chakra is something that recharges over time. So while the truth-seeking balls have disappeared, it's because they were destroyed during the war and cannot be regenerated. Basically, Naruto Uzumaki still has the Six Paths Sage Mode powers; however, for some reason, it looks just like his other chakra modes.

Does Naruto Have Six Paths Power after Losing Kurama?

While it was confirmed that Naruto still had the Sage of Six Paths power during his fight with Delta, the following chapters in Boruto once again restarted the debate.

Naruto still has Six Paths Sage Mode after losing Kurama, but he can no longer generate the truth-seeking orbs as he did in Naruto Shippuden. After all, the Six Paths Sage power is a divine gift by Hagoromo Otsutsuki to those who have an iron faith and never give up.

Unfortunately, since Naruto hasn't used Six Paths Sage Mode after losing Kurama, there is no confirmation regarding this matter, and many viewers still hold doubts. While we can't say how powerful Naruto is at this point, he is still among the strongest characters in the series.
