BulletVPN has officially announced that it is shutting down its services permanently, citing “various factors, including shifts in market demand.” The Estonia-based VPN provider had been operating for over eight years and served several thousand users. In a message posted on its website, BulletVPN thanked its users for their long-standing support and confirmed that its services would no longer be available going forward.
As part of the shutdown, the company is offering a way forward for its users: those with active BulletVPN subscriptions are eligible to claim a free six-month subscription to Windscribe Pro. Windscribe, which is unaffiliated with BulletVPN, is extending this offer independently as a goodwill gesture.
"This is not an acquisition or formal partnership," both companies clarified. Windscribe stated that it had provided BulletVPN with unique, single-use voucher codes that can be distributed to eligible users. BulletVPN has also assured users that no personal data, including emails or account information, has been shared with Windscribe.
To redeem the offer, affected users must contact BulletVPN’s support team at [email protected] before August 9, 2025. In addition to the free plan, Windscribe is also offering discounted long-term subscription options for those who may want to continue using their service beyond the free period.
This move follows a similar situation in 2023, when Windscribe extended subscription credits to former WeVPN users after that service also shut down.
However, the news has also reignited the long-standing debate over the reliability of so-called "lifetime" VPN subscriptions. BulletVPN had previously offered lifetime plans, which now leave those users without access or recourse. It's a recurring issue in the VPN industry. Back in April 2025, VPNSecure canceled lifetime subscriptions following a change in ownership. Other providers, like Ivacy VPN, have been criticized for defining “lifetime” as merely the expected lifespan of a software, often no longer than five years.
While BulletVPN’s closure will be frustrating for many, especially those who purchased lifetime access, the temporary support from Windscribe offers some relief for now. Users are advised to act quickly before the August deadline if they wish to take advantage of the Windscribe Pro offer.
