SiliconDust Launches HDHomeRun Premium TV Plans At $35 Per Month

SiliconDust is one of the leading companies in the TV streaming industry. Known for its DVR hardware and software packages, the brand is set to break into the TV streaming market with its aggressively priced streaming service HDHomeRun. The company seeks to appeal to cord cutters by offering 45 channels at launch which include traditional channels and zero contracts. Users can access the new features for two weeks. Beyond the trial period, they can opt in for the plan which is competitively priced at $35 per month.

To get access to the streaming service, customers need to own one of SiliconDust’s Connect or Extend boxes with the latest firmware. Users will be able to access all of the content on not only their TVs but also on other platforms using their HDHomeRun accounts.

Streaming will be available on PC, Android, iOS, Xbox, Android TV, and other popular platforms. The number of streams that can be accessed at the same time is tied to the number of tuners each user owns. The Connect tuner offers two connections while the Extend tuner offers four.

President & CEO Theodore Head revealed that HDHomeRun had a beta test a few months ago and the company used the feedback to add more features at launch. The service is designed to appeal to cord cutters by offering all of the necessary features in a single app.

SiliconDust has also brought some upgrades for existing users who do not want to upgrade to the streaming package. Users can now launch the HDHomeRun software into live TV or DVR. Priority controls have also been added to save all important shows that are set for recording. The discovery menu has been updated to reflect these changes and make it easier for users to navigate.
