Will Yellowstone Be on Paramount Plus?

By Gabriela Vatu / March 2, 2021

As the Paramount Plus platform is launching soon, one of the big questions people have is whether Yellowstone will be available to stream.

Yellowstone is a drama TV series that premiered in 2018, starring Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, and Kelly Reilly, following the conflicts along the borders of a cattle ranch, a Native reservation, and modern land developers. It's a show with 8.6 stars on IMDb and a 74% score on Rotten Tomatoes (86% from audiences, if you're keeping track).

With the show being one that's broadcast by Paramount Network, fans are obviously eager to watch it on Paramount Plus.

Unfortunately, that's not going to be possible. Yes, one of the biggest shows on Paramount won't be on the new service. In fact, the cowboy show will be staying up on Peacock for the foreseeable future - which, as you may know, belongs to NBC. The show is available with a Peacock subscription (Premium is $4.99/mo, Premium Plus is $9.99/mo), although the first episode is available to stream for free.

While this is quite unfortunate, this is a deal dating back a few years, so it's no surprise that the license belongs to another streaming service.

The good news, however, is that somewhere along the way, Yellowstone spinoffs will be exclusive to Paramount Plus. In fact, they've already announced that a prequel called "Y:1883" will be landing later this year. The show will follow the Dutton family as they go across the Great Plains.

Another spinoff show called "6666" (current working title) will tell the story of the ranch that's steeped into the history of the West, even two centuries after it was built.

So there you have it. No Yellowstone for now, but you'll be getting some spinoffs down the road.
