How to Watch ‘The Rookie’ Online – Live Stream Season 2 Episodes

By Gabriela Vatu / September 22, 2019

Nathan Fillion is certainly a big name by now and he's managed to bring tons of viewers to The Rookie, his newest TV show. With a second season just around the corner, we're excited to watch The Rookie online.

The Rookie first premiered back in October 2018 and will now return to the TV screens this fall on ABC. The renewal of the show was announced back in May, right after the first season of The Rookie ended.

The show follows John Nolan, who's a 45-year-old freshly divorced man and former construction company owner. After he helps police officers during a bank robbery he moves to LA and seeks a new career as a police officer, which makes him the oldest rookie on the force. With the first season-ending without Nolan taking his rookie exam, we can't wait to see how things develop moving forward.

When and Where to Watch The Rookie?

The Rookie returns to small screens on September 29th, 2019, and it will run at 10/9c on ABC. The first season had 20 episodes, so we expect to see a similar number for this season too.

How Can I Live Stream The Rookie?

It's super easy to watch The Rookie without cable nowadays because there are so many live streams available to help. One of your best bets to watch this ABC show is with the help of Hulu, which is a great platform that offers live TV service for cheap. Start your 7-day free trial on Hulu! Not only will your subscription cover access to dozens of TV channels, including ABC, but it will also grant you a way into the extensive Hulu video-on-demand library. If you want to customize your plan, you can add a couple of channel packs and plenty of premium networks.

Hulu works on iOS and Android phones and tablets, FireTV, Apple TV, Roku, Xbox, Chromecast, and Samsung Smart TVs, as well as web browsers. (Note: Hulu is a platform that only works in the United States, so you're going to need to use a VPN if you want to access it when you travel outside of the United States. Other Ways to Watch The Rookie Online

PlayStation Vue - We have PlayStation Vue on our list and it's a great service that you can subscribe to. There are four bundles of channels here - Access, Core, Elite, and Ultra - and they all have ABC. All subscribers can enjoy watching content on up to five devices at once and recording up to 500 programs to the cloud.

YouTube TV - Another platform to feature ABC is YouTube TV, which only features a bundle of channels. This one includes ABC and there are no extra channel packs to add even if you wanted to. There are plenty of premium networks, however. Subscribers can enjoy unlimited cloud DVR storage space and 3 simultaneous streams.

How Can I Watch The Rookie Outside of the United States?

All live TV platforms and streaming services in the US have one thing in common - they're all subject to geoblocks because they have to respect licensing deals. This is quite inconvenient for viewers who can no longer access Hulu, PlayStation Vue, or YouTube TV when traveling abroad. Thankfully, the situation is easily fixable with the help of a VPN service. On TechNadu, we only recommend the best so we'll direct you towards ExpressVPN, which is one of the best on the market with thousands of servers across the world and top security and privacy features.

Here's what you need to do to bypass the blockade and watch ABC on Hulu when traveling abroad:

Can I Watch The Rookie on ABC's Website?

That is something that you most certainly can do because the ABC website features a live stream that you can access if you use TV provider details. You can either go with your cable provider if you haven't cut the cord yet or with a live TV service; as long as you prove that you're paying for a TV subscription that gives you ABC access, you're good to go. (Note: ABC's website is also geoblocked so if you want to access the live stream, you're going to have to use a VPN when traveling abroad. Click here to learn how to do this.)

Can I Watch The Rookie With a TV Antenna?

Since ABC is one of the few channels that continues to broadcast over-the-air, you will be able to watch the content from the local station with a TV antenna. Of course, it all depends on where you live exactly. TV antennas are extremely popular among cord-cutters because they provide easy access to dozens of channels at any time.

We advise you to visit a site like NoCable so you can figure out whether or not ABC is even available in your specific region. It will also tell you how far the broadcasting station is from you so you can figure out what range you need to get in your device so you can watch as many channels as possible. We've given you a few suggestions in terms of devices and we hope you choose from those, but you can also do your own research if you want more.

Can I Binge-Watch The Rookie?

Some episodes of The Rookie are available to watch on ABC, but you can only watch recaps for most of them. Thankfully, you're going to find the full season over on Hulu, so you can enjoy the entire show there and binge in peace.

Can I Purchase The Rookie?

Absolutely! If you want to buy the show's episodes or the entire first season, or even the episodes from the second season after they air, you can find them all on Google Play, YouTube, iTunes, Microsoft Store, Vudu, and Amazon Prime. We do advise you to check all the links we provided before making any purchases because they may offer better deals, depending on when you're making the transaction.
