Verizon Announces Plus Play to Manage All Your Streaming Subscriptions

By Ipsita Kabiraj / March 9, 2022

Verizon has announced the launch of a new platform that will help users organize their subscription services, called +play. This new service is exclusive to Verizon customers and will help them discover, purchase, and manage their favorite subscriptions across different subscriptions like entertainment, audio, gaming, fitness, music, and lifestyle.

The platform will help customers keep track of all their subscriptions in one place and make sure that they get the best deals possible. The services purchased through +play will be available on any device across any network, the company said.

The telco has partnered with several companies such as Netflix, Peloton, Live Nation's Veeps and will feature prominent services WW International, Calm, Duolingo, A+E Networks (including Lifetime Movie Club, History Vault, and A&E Crime Central) TelevisaUnivision's Vix Plus, among others. Plus Play will also let users purchase and manage the content Verizon already offers through leading providers including Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, Discovery, and AMC+.

+play is a natural extension of our core strengths. Through premium content and entertainment relationships, we have a track record as one of the largest and most successful direct to consumer platforms in the country. We already support the management of millions of Verizon-offered content subscriptions and +play will further enhance our Mix & Match plan proposition by scaling choice through aggregation – choice of connectivity, choice of device, and now choice of content and digital services with added perks and offers in a one stop shop.

- -Manon Brouillette, executive vice president and CEO of Verizon's consumer group

Plus Play was announced during Verizon's Investor Event on March 3, 2022. The telco did not reveal a launch date, but the service will debut later this year. When it does become available, it will be provided free of cost to Verizon customers.

It will also offer personalized content recommendations "based on information about users that the company acquired independently of what users are watching on a particular service. If you subscribe to a streaming service through Plus Play and use your Verizon credit card to make payments, you will be able to earn 2% rewards as well.

Verizon also recently announced a partnership with Meta, Facebook's parent company, that will explore the potential of and surrounding a future metaverse. It will look at ways to collaborate Verizon's 5G network with Meta's technologies "to understand the foundational requirements for metaverse applications."
