VPN provider Surfshark has announced a major milestone. The company’s global network now includes more than 4,500 servers. This expansion highlights Surfshark’s continued investment in performance, reliability, and cutting-edge server technology.

Why the Expansion Matters

According to Surfshark, each new server strengthens the overall user experience by improving speed, stability, and security. The company emphasized that the focus remains on quality over quantity, with all servers running on 10Gbps connections and supported by self-healing infrastructure. It also recently launched a 1000Gbps server in Amsterdam.

Although no new locations were added this time, Surfshark expanded its existing network in key regions, particularly the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan. The company also made enhancements to its dedicated IP network and introduced updates designed to reduce CAPTCHA interruptions during browsing sessions.

How the New Infrastructure Benefits Users

Surfshark says the increase in server count helps support its growing user base and enables the rollout of new technologies like Everlink, the company’s self-healing VPN infrastructure.

Everlink ensures that users stay connected even if a server experiences downtime or maintenance. When a failure occurs, the system automatically reconfigures the VPN tunnel without disconnecting the user, maintaining both connection stability and security.

Surfshark describes this as an “infinite connection” experience - users remain protected and anonymous while the network adapts behind the scenes. The feature is globally distributed and benefits from the growing number of servers worldwide.

VPN Route Optimization and Performance

Another part of Surfshark’s infrastructure upgrade involves VPN route optimization, a system that constantly evaluates and adjusts data routes in real time. This helps data packets travel through the most efficient paths, reducing latency and improving performance.

Currently, this feature is available on macOS and covers major hubs like Sydney, Seattle, and Vancouver. Surfshark says that with more servers coming online, it plans to expand optimization coverage to additional countries.

Powered by Surfshark Nexus

All of these advancements are made possible by Surfshark Nexus, the company’s Software Defined Networking (SDN) framework. Nexus links all Surfshark servers into a single global network, allowing users to connect seamlessly between locations without sacrificing security.

This unified network model allows users to switch countries or servers more freely, while maintaining the same encrypted, private connection. Surfshark says Nexus also provides the foundation for future innovations in VPN technology.

Choosing the Best Server

Surfshark advises users to select servers based on their needs:

Surfshark’s network expansion to over 4,500 servers marks another step in strengthening its global VPN infrastructure. By focusing on high-speed connections, self-healing technology, and unified network design, the company continues to position itself as a forward-looking player in the VPN industry.
