Shenmue the Animation Drops First-Look at Series Premiere

The long-running SEGA video game series, Shenmue, has finally been adapted for an anime series, and we can't wait! Shenmue the Animation has dropped a preview for fans ahead of the series' pilot episode. The video game series is seemingly getting an upgrade in the upcoming anime adaptation, as seen in the preview. News of the forthcoming series has fans waiting in anticipation, especially since the creators have been steadily revealing more of what fans of the games can expect to see in the new anime.
Shenmue The Animation will comprise 13 English dubbed episodes airing on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block. The episodes will also be available to stream on Crunchyroll starting February 6, 2022, at 12:30 AM EST. The English dub version on Toonami and the Japanese with English sub version on Crunchyroll will release simultaneously.

Shenmue the Animation's official description reads:
"1986, Yokosuka. Ryo Hazuki has trained to master the Hazuki Style Jujitsu under his strict father in the Hazuki Dojo from his childhood. However, one day a mysterious man named Lan Di murders his father and takes the "mirror" his father was protecting. Ryo is determined to find the truth behind his father's murder but soon finds himself getting stuck in a war between the underground organizations…. Traveling from Yokosuka to Hong Kong, Ryo's long journey begins!"
