Ironheart will premiere on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, with its first three episodes dropping together on Disney+. As of now, the remaining three are expected to be released weekly, marking the final chapter of Phase Five in the MCU.
Set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), Ironheart follows young inventor Riri Williams as she returns to her hometown of Chicago. While refining her groundbreaking iron suit technology, Riri crosses paths with the mysterious and charismatic Parker Robbins, also known as The Hood. As their worlds collide, she uncovers hidden threats that spark a high-stakes clash between science and the supernatural.
Dominique Thorne stars as Riri Williams, a teenage genius who creates her own high-tech suit of armor. Although she shares Tony Stark’s brilliance, her journey is very different. “She’s dumpster-diving, whereas Tony Stark [was] this bajillionaire,” Thorne told Empire. “What she’s able to accomplish is remarkable.”
While Ironheart aims to build on Iron Man’s legacy, it won’t attempt to recreate the exact same dynamic between Tony Stark and Riri as seen in the comics. However, Stark’s presence is still felt. “Robert Downey Jr and I spoke just after we wrapped, and he shared some very lovely words about my journey,” Thorne recalled. “He told me how excited he was and that he’s rooting for it, too. I literally got two thumbs up. It’s really reassuring to know you’re not embarrassing Iron Man.”
Riri is expected to wear several suits throughout the series, but the early prototype armor, featured in promotional material, will be her main gear. “There’s a full practical suit,” Brad Winderbaum confirmed. “It doesn’t obviously do all the c*azy things that the suit does, but we used a lot of techniques that go all the way back to the first Iron Man film, where we actually had a practical suit on set,” he added.
