Instagram Now Includes A Persistent Stories Tab on iOS and Android
- Instagram now has a persistent Stories bar that stays while you scroll through your main feed to make it convenient for users to jump to the Stories section anytime they want.
- The new button stays at the top of the app and does not move to help users conveniently move to the Stories tab.
- Recently, the app added a persistent button for the new IGTV feature as well which cannot be removed from the settings even if you do not want to use the feature.
The latest Instagram update now includes a persistent Stories tab which can be a convenient solution for people who want to browse to the Stories section from any part tab. The Stories tab isn’t the first persistent button that has been added lately. With the new IGTV feature being added to Instagram, we also have a glowing orange button to take you to the IGTV tab in the feed which cannot be turned off. With Stories being available at the top of the news feed anyway, having a dedicated tab drops the amount of screen space users have access to for viewing the photos feed.
While some users can find the two new additions convenient, the icons can be a bit distracting, and there’s no way to turn it off. Not all users require a dedicated IGTV or Stories tab and having the option to hide them when browsing your Instagram feed would be convenient for many.

Recently the social media app reported that over 400 million people are posting Instagram Stories every day. The platform also introduced new Music features in select countries which will be available globally soon. The new IGTVÂ has also become quite popular with popular Instagram users posting videos on a daily basis. An Instagram spokesperson revealed that the new persistent tabs are simply in a testing phase and the social media platform has not decided to make the Stories tab permanent yet.
