How to Watch So You Think You Can Dance Season 17 Online From Anywhere

By Gabriela Vatu / May 18, 2022

The Fox show So You Think You Can Dance is returning this month with a new season after a 3-year hiatus. We have all the information, so check out where, when, and how to watch So You Think You Can Dance Season 17 online from anywhere.

So You Think You Can Dance has always been a stellar show with tons of viewers. When the pandemic hit, the 17th season got postponed. Obviously, with the number of dancers that usually participate in auditions, the minimal personal space partner-dancing involves, and everything else that comes with a production of this size, it would be difficult to maintain any COVID safety rules.

Fans had hoped the season would be delivered in the summer of 2021, but the show was postponed indefinitely. Thankfully, we're finally getting the long-awaited season, but expect some changes! Although Cat Deeley will be hosting for the 16th season in a row, Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy will not be returning. Both had been near-permanent fixtures of the dance competition since its inception, especially since Lythgoe is its creator. Instead, this year, the judging panel will feature former SYTYCD finalist Stephen "tWitch" Boss, Dancing With the Stars runner-up JoJo Siwa, and Broadway and Glee actor Matthew Morrison.

The initial auditions for this season began in March 2020. The rule of the show is that participating dancers need to be between 18 and 30 years old. It remains to be seen if those originally admitted in 2020 could get an age extension and be allowed to participate even if they're 32 now.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 17 premieres on Fox on May 18, 2022, starting at 9 PM ET. The show will premiere after the season finale of The Masked Singer.
