Google Offers One-Month of Free Service To New Google (Project) Fi Users

By Nitish Singh / November 30, 2018

Google started rebranding its Project Fi service to Google Fi recently, and the tech giant is trying to get as many users on board as possible with some eye-catching offers. Project Fi was an initiative designed to offer virtual mobile network services to both cellular and Wi-Fi networks, and it has been around since 2015 with the Nexus 6 being the first device to receive access.

Since its release, Project Fi has seen very limited usage, and Google wants to change that with its rebranding. The tech giant recently offered travel credits to all Fi customers who purchased the recently released Pixel devices from its online store. With a large number of takers, Google was unable to keep up with the demand and has shut down the offer.

The travel voucher deal has now been replaced with a free month of Google Fi usage for all new users. While it might not be as lucrative as getting $1000 worth of gift vouchers, it’s still something you should pick up if you want to try the service out. You get service credits which you can use for a month of unlimited calls, unlimited text, and data usage. You get access to 15GB of high-speed data with a fair usage policy restriction in place. Past the 15GB mark, you will face reduced speeds. The offer is available until December 16th, 11:59 PM PST.

It's also interesting to note that Google Fi comes with Fi network tools for smartphones that allow you to 'enhance' your network which is essentially a toggle for rerouting your data via Google’s VPN solution. It is a great tool if you are on a carrier like Sprint or T-Mobile and want your data to be kept private.
