How to Get HBO Max on Google Chromecast

HBO Max has all the attention lately, with several blockbusters from WarnerMedia in its library, so the app supports a vast collection of the currently popular devices and platforms. However, if you do not own any of the compatible ones, you can always use Chromecast to cast HBO Max from your supported phone or tablet to your TV. That said, let's see how to sign up, download, and install HBO Max on Chromecast in just a few easy steps.

Is Chromecast Supported by HBO Max?

Yes, it is - Chromecast is among the devices supported by HBO Max. This means you can cast to your Chromecast from Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Fire tablets.

However, we should mention that Chromecast (3rd gen or older) no longer supports setup on a computer, so the only way to set up your Chromecast now is to use a mobile device.

How to Get HBO Max on Chromecast From Your Phone or Tablet (iOS or Android)

  1. You need to start by subscribing to HBO Max if you aren't a subscriber already.
  2. First, make sure your Chromecast and your device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Set up Chromecast on your Android phone or tablet or Apple iPhone or iPad.
  4. Now, open HBO Max on your phone or tablet and start watching something.
  5. Hit pause, and in the top-right you'll see a Google Cast button that you need to tap.
  6. Now, you need to tap the name of the device that you want to cast content to.
  7. Once connected, HBO Max should play on your TV. To stop casting, tap the Cast button again and then tap Disconnect.

If you can't see a Cast button on iOS, you may need to adjust the device's settings. Here's what you should do:

  • On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, then scroll until you find HBO Max and select it.
  • Make sure Bluetooth and Local Network are both turned on.
  • Next, close the HBO Max app and reopen it.
  • Now check again. It may take a minute for the Cast button to appear.

If these do not work, you can resort to casting to Chromecast from the Google Home app on Android. See more details below.
