The Doctor Who Christmas Special called Joy to the World will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, at 9:10 a.m. PST / 12:10 p.m. EST. It is also available for watching on BBC Player and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
What is the Plot of the Doctor Who 2024 Christmas Special?
In the trailer for the Doctor Who Christmas special called Joy to the World, we see dinosaurs, fireworks, and two of the Doctor. The time traveler is back, and this time Nicola Coughlan’s character Joy is along for the ride across worlds and time. Her name is also a great hint of what’s to come.
Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor is navigating the TARDIS when he meets Joy, a woman who accidentally opens the doorway to the Time Hotel. What follows are the dinosaurs and the doctor trying to reign it all in. However, as always, it is not fun and cheer all along.
There are mentions of history hanging in the balance and also some hard-hitting dialogues from the doppelganger of the doctor who says to his other version, “You have to be mysterious all the time, that’s why everyone leaves you, that is why you are always alone.” Ruby, the Doctor’s most recent companion, left him at the end of the most recent season.
