AppleTV+ Content to Support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos

By Gabriela Vatu / September 13, 2019

Apple TV+ is the big mystery of the fall as the Cupertino company is quite secretive about the upcoming streaming service it is launching soon. And while we don't know as much as we'd want about it, we do know that AppleTV+ will be available in Dolby Vision, while most content will also support Dolby Atmos sound.

What does this mean for you? It means that the sound and video quality will be incredible. "Apple TV+ lets you stream all-new breakthrough original shows and films, ad-free and on-demand. New originals will be added to Apple TV+ every month. You can watch Apple originals in 4K HDR / Dolby Vision and most titles also offer Dolby Atmos sound," Apple states about the content heading their way.

When it comes to what devices you can watch films in Dolby Vision quality, you can count iPhone 8 and later, iPad Pro (2nd and 3rd generations for 12.9-inch version, 11-inch version, and 10.5 inch version), Apple TV 4K, Mac models introduced in 2018 or later with 4K resolution screens, iPad Pro, as well as compatible smart TVs that support AirPlay from your Apple device.

Dolby Atmos is also supported on all Mac models after 2018, iPhone 11, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, 11-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and Apple TV.

Apple TV+ is launching on November 1st for $4.99 per month and the company is planning to serve all new customers of iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs, and Macs from the next year a one year free of Apple TV+.

Apple is quite competitive and courageous because they're launching their new streaming service just shy of two weeks ahead of Disney+. Next year, HBO Max is also joining the already-crowded scene where Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO Now/Go and others are already fighting for customers.
