Andor season 2 is moving full-speed ahead and multiple characters have met their demise in an effort to help the rebellion. Bail Organa, Leia Organa’s adoptive father’s fate is painful, but it’s something fans of the famous galactic franchise already know. Yet, thanks to what happened in episode 9 of Andor season 2, many are asking- does Bail Organa die on Alderaan? In this article, we will discuss what happened to him.

Did Bail Organa die on Alderaan?

Bail Organa died when Wilhuff Tarkin, a Grand Moff, ordered Alderaan’s demise with the Death Star’s superlaser. The result- the complete annihilation of 2 billion people. Among these 2 billion was Bail Organa as well as his wife Breha Organa. Alderaan’s demise was a demonstration of the Empire’s power and a warning to any rebels. However, this act made Leia Organa more determined to bring the Empire to its knees.

Why Didn’t Bail Organa Leave with Mon Mothma?

In Andor episode 9, something happened that shocked longtime Star Wars fans. Senator Bail Organa decided to stay behind while Mon Mothma got to Yavin 4. But why didn’t he leave with her?

The short answer is- to keep Leia Organa, his adoptive daughter, safe. Bail Organa allows Mon Mothma to give that Senate speech where she condemns Emperor Palpatine. This forces her to go into hiding, but he refuses to join her escape simply because he has too much to lose.

Mon’s family had distanced itself from her, but Bail is still connected to Alderaan and Leia. If he openly sides with her, the Empire would suspect his planet and his daughter. By this time, Leia was already a junior senator aiding the rebels.

Moreover, Bail knows Leia’s true parentage- that she is Anakin Skywalker's daughter and is the galaxy’s best hope. So, any mistake from his side would jeopardize the rebellion and risk exposing Leia’s actual parentage. Now with only three episodes left from Andor season 2, fans are expecting a blistering ending.
