Apple iPhone 18 Pro Supplier List Exposed in Tata Data Leak
- Files Leaked: World Leaks posted more than 200,000 files stolen from Apple supplier Tata Electronics on the dark web.
- Suppliers Mapped: At least six documents map iPhone 18 Pro components to the specific companies that supply them.
- Photos Exposed: Drop-test images of iPhone 18 Pro handsets dated early 2026 were among the leaked files.
Sensitive component lists, supplier maps, and photos of Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models have surfaced on the dark web, part of files posted by the ransomware group World Leaks after a data breach of Indian supplier Tata Electronics, according to documents and a source reviewed by Reuters.
Tata Electronics Leak Exposes iPhone 18 Pro Supply Chain
Last week, Apple and Tesla supplier Tata Electronics confirmed a data breach. Previous reports said that World Leaks posted over 204,300 files, including purported component design papers for older iPhones and parts of Tesla, another Tata client, as well as documents from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) and Qualcomm, both of which make parts used in iPhones.
New documents show at least six files mapping iPhone 18 Pro components, chips on the main circuit board, plus battery and camera parts, to specific suppliers. Yet, Apple does not disclose these supplier-to-part links in its public database.
Several files carried Apple "confidential" watermarks and internal codenames consistent with the iPhone 18 Pro generation, according to the source familiar with the matter. The folder included photographs of iPhones undergoing drop tests at a Tata plant, dated early 2026, depicting a grey slab handset with a triple rear-camera setup and the Apple logo.
Apple Diversifies Beyond China as iOS Policy Shifts
Tata, central to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's manufacturing push, helps Apple diversify beyond China. India is on track to produce 26% of the world's iPhones in 2026, up from 6% four years ago, according to research firm Counterpoint.
Apple also said it is releasing iOS security updates earlier, reportedly citing AI-accelerated hacking tools. AppleInsider first reported the iPhone 18 Pro documents last week.
In August 2025, TSMC took legal action over a trade secret breach targeting its 2-nanometer chip technology.
In mid-2025, Hunters International rebranded as World Leaks, shifting focus to data extortion.
