Amazon’s newest Fire TV Stick 4K Select ships with a brand-new operating system called Vega OS, marking a major change in the Fire TV ecosystem. As of November 28, Amazon has officially enabled VPN support on Vega OS, and IPVanish, one of the most popular VPN apps among Fire TV users, became available in the Amazon Appstore on the same day.

Vega OS Replaces Fire OS on Newer Devices

Vega OS is a Linux-based system that powers Amazon’s latest Fire TV hardware. Unlike previous Fire TV models that ran Fire OS (built on Android), this new platform requires apps to be rebuilt for compatibility.

Because of this shift, developers have had to create new versions of their apps specifically for Vega OS. IPVanish has already completed development of its Vega OS-ready app, ensuring users can install it immediately on supported devices.

What IPVanish Offers on Vega OS

The Vega OS version of IPVanish is designed to provide the same secure experience users expect. According to the company, the new release includes:

These features aim to give Fire TV users a smooth streaming experience while maintaining privacy.

Support Continues for Older Fire OS Devices

Amazon’s shift to Vega OS doesn’t affect users who own older Fire TV devices. Fire OS models will continue receiving updates through the existing IPVanish app. The company says all users, whether on Fire OS or Vega OS, will continue getting full support.

With VPN support now live on Vega OS and IPVanish available from day one, users of the new Fire TV Stick 4K Select can install the VPN directly from the Amazon Appstore and begin protecting their streaming activity right away.
