The X-Men were created back in the '60s, but we've also had some really cool movies to watch for the past couple of decades. Let's see how to watch X-Men movies in order.
Published by Marvel Comics, the X-Men is a team of mutant superheroes that started their journey back in 1963 thanks to Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. The X-Men fight for peace and equality, as they hope one day to be fully accepted by humans. However, not all mutants want to abide by living peacefully and not abusing their powers, so Professor X's team often goes head to head with Magneto.
The X-Men film series currently counts thirteen titles, and it's the seventh highest-grossing film series. With the budget of all movies thus far being above $1.7 billion, they managed to bring in over $6 billion at the box office.
When it comes to watching the X-Men movies, you have a few options. Let's see which one you'll like best.
Watch X-Men in Order of Release
If you want to watch the X-Men movies in the order they were released - and in the order the general public has consumed them - here's how you can do this:
- X-Men – July 2000
- X2 – May 2003
- X-Men: The Last Stand – May 2006
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine – May 2009
- X-Men: First Class – June 2011
- The Wolverine – July 2013
- X-Men: Days of Future Past – May 2014

Watch X-Men in Chronological Order
Watching the X-Men movies in chronological order may also be a good idea, as you get a better grasp of what happens when and how the events are linked together.
- X-Men: First Class (set in 1962)
- X-Men: Days of Future Past (set in 1973 and 2023)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine (set in 1981)
- X-Men: Apocalypse (set in 1983)

The New Mutants comes with its own timeline, and you can pretty much watch it anytime you want as it does not affect things either way. Originally, it was supposed to occur in the '90s but got moved to "present-day."
Even though the movie was released in the summer of 2020, it was filmed in 2017 and was originally supposed to premiere in 2018, but got delayed. Therefore, the movie is roughly set in 2017.
How to Watch X-Men Movies Timeline A
There's also another way to watch the X-Men movies. If you're familiar with the series already, you may want to check this out. Due to the story within Days of Future Past, there are two timelines you can go for. In Timeline A, Mystique doesn't kill military scientist Bolivar Trask, which affects the timeline (making some of the X-Men movies not fit this list).

How to Watch X-Men Movies Timeline B
