YouTube TV May Soon Add Sports Extra Pack, More Viacom Channels

By Gabriela Vatu / September 2, 2020

It seems like YouTube TV is bringing in a new set of channels for its subscribers. The news comes just a couple of months after YouTube TV hiked up its prices due to new channel additions. These ones, however, it seems that it's going to be a separate affair.

Up until now, YouTube TV has had no extra channel packs available, compared to other similar live TV services. Now, however, according to a Reddit thread, it seems like there's a new Sports Plus package that's going to be available.

One Reddit user claims that the Sports Plus package is going to get offered for $15 per month. A similar package goes for $10.99 on fuboTV.

The list of channels includes:

The networks that have the most impact here are NFL Network and NFL RedZone, which have been harder to come by in live TV streaming services after getting dropped by Sling TV back in June.

This is not all. It seems that other channels are heading for YouTube TV too, particularly via Viacom:

All of the above had been missing here. MTV, VH1, and Comedy Central were added a few months back.

That being said, following the price hike from June, YouTube TV subscribers have been left feeling like they're not getting much out of their accounts anymore. However, that $64.99 per month may very well be justified now if all these channels are coming in. If you're interested in subscribing to YouTube TV, you can check their present offer.

Of course, it would have been infinitely better for YouTube TV to announce all of this before increasing the subscription price. What's done is done, however, and perhaps some people that have left after the price hike will now return to the platform. Only time will tell.
