Big news is stirring up the Yellowstone universe! SkyShowtime is gearing up to expand the franchise with a brand-new sequel series, The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer. This upcoming spinoff promises to take fans into fresh territory with a gripping story set in the heart of Montana, and while many details are still under wraps, anticipation is building rapidly.
Recent announcements have revealed an exciting ensemble cast, with Lost star Matthew Fox joining the show alongside Suits actor Patrick J. Adams. Set to lead the series, Pfeiffer will portray a character whose journey will explore themes of grief and human connection. With SkyShowtime calling 2024 the “year of Yellowstone,” expectations are high for what’s next in Taylor Sheridan’s evolving Western empire.
The Yellowstone franchise is not slowing down, even as the original show draws to a close. From casting news to its mysterious plot, get ready for all the exciting updates. Stay tuned, as we’ll be revealing more as soon as the latest details drop!
The Madison's release date remains unknown right now. While it hasn't been confirmed where the new series will stream (most probably Paramount Network and Paramount+), Yellowstone is currently available on Peacock, while its prequels, 1923 and 1883, can be streamed on Paramount+.
The Madison will serve as a sequel to Yellowstone, set in the present day, unlike previous spinoffs that explored the past. According to Paramount Network, the show follows a New York City family who relocated to the Madison River valley in central Montana. Described as a "heartfelt study of grief and human connection," the series centers on the Clyburn family after a tragic plane crash takes the lives of the patriarch and his brother.
Michelle Pfeiffer stars as Stacy Clyburn, the matriarch of the family, navigating her grief alongside her daughter, Abigaile Reese, a single mother adjusting to her new life in Montana. Other key characters include the McIntosh family, a wealthy New York couple, who find themselves out of their comfort zone in rural Montana.
While it’s unclear if The Madison will feature any familiar faces from Yellowstone, there’s speculation that characters from the original series could make an appearance, given the shared universe. Though originally announced under the title 2024, the show’s development hints that The Madison will pick up where Yellowstone leaves off, continuing the legacy of Taylor Sheridan’s storytelling.
“Michelle Pfeiffer is an extraordinary talent who brings emotional depth, authenticity, and grace to every role,” said Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and President/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. He continued, “She is the perfect lead for the latest chapter in the Yellowstone universe, Madison, crafted by the brilliant Taylor Sheridan.”
There’s no official word on how many episodes The Madison will have, but based on other shows in the Yellowstone universe, we anticipate somewhere between 10 and 12.
Since filming has yet to start, there's no trailer just yet. But keep an eye on this space for updates as soon as anything drops!
When The Madison was first announced, it was planned to continue the Yellowstone story by following the Dutton family after the events of the original series, introducing new characters while retaining some old ones. However, it’s now unclear if the show will still connect directly to the Duttons or if it will follow a completely new storyline.
Set in the present day, The Madison could potentially be a standalone spinoff. While Yellowstone has previously incorporated characters and scenes from its prequel 1883, it's not yet known if The Madison will do the same. As production progresses, more details may emerge.
The production of Madison is handled by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions. The series boasts a team of executive producers, including Taylor Sheridan, Michelle Pfeiffer, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Christina Voros, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox.
Sheridan, the mastermind behind the Yellowstone universe, leads the project, adding Madison to his impressive roster, which includes Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, Special Ops: Lioness, and the upcoming Landman. Pfeiffer's dual role as both star and executive producer underscores her pivotal involvement in the series.
