Each iPhone 16 model promises a few extra hours of battery life compared to the previous generation. The latest iPhones continue to feature a USB-C port for charging and support wireless charging. If you decide to upgrade, you can continue to use your old adapter, but there are a couple of things you need to keep in mind.

Any iPhone 16 can be charged up to 50% in 30 minutes using a 20W adapter. So, that hasn’t changed compared to the previous generation. What’s new is that you can charge the new devices up to 50% in 30 minutes via MagSafe as well, but you need to use a 30W adapter in that case.

So, if you plan on charging your iPhone 16 using a cable, make sure to use a 20W adapter (you can also use a faster one, but it won’t charge your iPhone faster). Apple sells a 20W USB-C adapter for $19.00.

If you want to charge your iPhone 16 wirelessly, you need to invest in a new MagSafe charger, priced at $39.00. That’s because the new MagSafe charger supports iPhone 16’s 25W wireless charging. Just make sure to pair it with a 30W USB-C adapter to get the fastest wireless charging speed.
