Trust Wallet has confirmed a security incident affecting version 2.68 of its browser extension. The company urged users to disable the affected version and upgrade to version 2.69. The issue is limited to that specific release and does not impact mobile-only users or other browser extension versions.Â
The disclosure followed reports circulating on X, prompting Trust Wallet to acknowledge the incident that reportedly led to a loss of $7 million.
In its statement, Trust Wallet emphasized that other platforms remain unaffected. Users are urged to update via the official Chrome Web Store to reduce risk. The company has assured victims of covering the cost of the hack.Â
At this stage, it is not confirmed whether user funds, private keys, or other sensitive data were compromised, and no attacker attribution has been provided. Security incidents involving browser extensions raise concerns around supply-chain risks, malicious updates, or exploitation of extension permissions.
According to CoinSpeaker, attackers stole BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, and BNB from ‘hundreds’ of users. Additional details are expected as the investigation continues. Users are advised to rely only on official communications and verified update channels.
