The Last of Us is well into its second season and viewers have already been with Ellie and Dina as they have journeyed from Jackson to Seattle. Till now, we have been introduced to a bunch of new characters who weren’t there in the first season. We have met Abby and her crew as well as some of the Seraphites (before they were murdered).
This episode introduces a bunch of new characters like Washington Liberation Front’s Isaac Dixon (Jeffrey Wright) and Hanrahan (Alanna Ubach). So, who is she? In this article, we will explore that.
Hanrahan is a new character introduced to the world of The Last of Us Season 2. She doesn’t exist in the game versions, so she is a show-only character. We aren’t told much about her, but there’s enough information given to piece together some major aspects of her character.
Episode four begins with a flashback where we get to see 2018’s Seattle when the city was still under FEDRA rule and the WLF was just a resistance group instead of the feared militia it is seen in the current day of the show.
When a group of WLF members barricade the way of some FEDRA agents, something happens. Ubach's Hanrahan sees Isaac get out of the truck he and his fellow soldiers were riding in and asks, “You Isaac?”
It’s possible that Hanrahan was a point of contact for Jeffrey Wright’s Isaac Dixon. Whether they had any prior communication or not isn’t elaborated upon in the show. But it’s clear that they at least knew each other’s names. Maybe killing his fellow FEDRA agents was a test for Isaac, which he certainly passed.
Also, she is the one who welcomes him to “the fight.” This makes it clear that Hanrahan is also the face of the WLF. Another theory states that she was the previous leader of the WLF, and at that moment, she transferred power to him as the group's new leader. It’s possible that we will know more about her as the season progresses.
The Last of Us season 2 is now streaming on HBO and Max. New episodes air weekly on Sundays. The fifth episode called “Feel Her Love” will premiere on May 11, 2025. If you want to refresh your memory, we have recaps of Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, and Episode 4.
