The Gold is back with a second series, and fans of the factual drama based on the 1983 Brink’s-Mat robbery couldn’t be more excited. The show follows the theft of £26 million worth of gold bullion and the subsequent chain of events that unfolded over the decades.
Series one followed the robbery as well as the aftermath. It focused on the characters trying to get rid of the gold by smelting it and selling it back into the economic system. The police were after the people involved in the robbery and money laundering.
Series 2 is all set to continue this cat-and-mouse push-and-pull between the authorities and the criminals. But when and where can you watch the show? In this article, we will tell you The Gold series 2 release date and more.
The Gold will return with Series 2 on Sunday, June 8, 2025. All the episodes will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6 am. After that, it will air on BBC One at 9 pm that night.
The Gold series 2 will pick up right where the first one left off- when the authorities found out that they were only able to trace half of the stolen gold. The next series will follow the “second half of the Brink’s-Mat gold” (via BBC). Neil Forsyth, the creator, writer, and executive producer of the show, also stated that multiple key characters will face the consequences for their actions.
He also confirmed that The Gold will end with series 2 as he always imagined it as a “two series show, following the two halves of the gold.” He also revealed that he is grateful for the success of the show, saying, "I think we’ve told the story in a style and tone that feels unique and, for me as a writer, that has to be the aim."
