A major dark net drug syndicate was dismantled, as five individuals have been charged and remain before the courts. The unnamed operation allegedly generated over $80 million in illicit revenue across an eight-year timeframe, operating autonomously as one of the largest anonymous narcotics vendors on the dark web.
The action was conducted by Strike Force Carieville, established by the State Crime Command’s Cybercrime Squad in collaboration with the NSW Crime Commission in Australia.
Strike Force Carieville Arrests
An unnamed 38-year-old suspect in Thornleigh was arrested on March 31, 2026, by the NSW Police Cybercrime Squad, supported by the Raptor Squad, as a result of extensive forensic inquiries into the drug supply operation.
Officers transported the individual to the Hornsby Police Station for processing. Subsequent to the primary arrest, detectives executed targeted search warrants at two separate residential addresses to secure operational intelligence.
At a Pacific Highway unit in Wahroonga, investigators allegedly confiscated electronic devices, $35,000 in currency, and 20 grams of prohibited substances. A secondary search at an Oxley Drive residence in Mount Colah reportedly yielded additional cannabis and significant quantities of drug paraphernalia.
Dark Net Drug Syndicate Charges
Australian authorities formally charged the 38-year-old man with knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime. Furthermore, he faces three counts of failing to comply with a digital evidence access order direction.
The accused was refused bail to appear before the Hornsby Local Court. Investigations under Strike Force Carieville remain ongoing as detectives continue to process the seized digital infrastructure.
In February, a Glendale man was sentenced to almost 5 years in prison in a darknet drug distribution case, and alleged Incognito Market operator Rui-Siang Lin was sentenced to 30 years.
