MANGA Plus App Third Anniversary: One Piece, MHA, and More Series to Release for Free

MANGA Plus, by Shueisha, is celebrating three years of being an active manga reader service! The platform has decided to offer a special treat for fans in celebration. The manga reader service has announced that they are making several of their serialized works, like Eiichiro Oda's One Piece, Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia, available to read for free!

Fans must keep in mind that this promotion is only valid for one year, from January 2022 until January 2023. In addition, each chapter can only be read for free once. Also, keep in mind that this promotion is only available on the MANGA Plus app. All free chapters will reportedly be available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Thai, Russian, and Indonesian.

What Manga Series Are Available For Free? Which Manga Series are on Hiatus?

MANGA Plus currently offers around 100 individual series and thousands of chapters on its platform. All titles presently being serialized and are not completed or re-released will be available for free. Some notable examples of these titles include One Piece, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Black Clover, Dr. Stone, and more! Shueisha's MANGA Plus App is available for iOS and Android smartphones.

There are also a few manga series that are on a hiatus. However, the platform has announced that once back from this hiatus, series like Takaki Tsuyoshi's Heart Gear and Kazue Kato's Blue Exorcist will also be a part of the First Read Free promotion. In addition, Blue Period creator Tsubasa Yamaguchi is currently on a one-month hiatus to recover from COVID-19. Similarly, World Trigger's Daisuke Ashihara took a break at the end of last year because of health issues.

What is the First Read Free Promotion?

MANGA Plus' official website states that the "First Read Free" campaign will become available when fans download the app on their device for the first time or update the app to the newest version. During the campaign, fans can read select chapters in the app only once for free. Free viewing of a chapter will end when the app's viewer is closed.

Special exceptions for the last rule also exist. For example, if for some reason the app crashes while you are reading, a dialog box will show after restarting the app, allowing you to choose to reread the chapter.
