Japanese Light Novel Series Black Summoner Gets Anime Adaptation!
A recent announcement from Bushiroad Move, a group company of Bushiroad, confirms that the light novel series Black Summoner is getting an anime adaptation! Black Summoner, written by Doufu Mayoi, began publication on the Shosetsuka ni Naro novel posting website in October 2014 and has gained over 280 million page views so far. In June 2016, Overlap began publishing the series with illustrations by Kurogin, while the manga adaptation illustrated by Gin Ammo began serialization in Comic Gardo in January 2018.
J-Novel Club has digitally published the novel's English edition since September 2020. Fifteen volumes of the series have been published so far, with a total circulation of over 1.4 million copies. The official synopsis for the series reads:
"Waking up in a strange new place with no memory of his past life, Kelvin learns that he's bartered away those very memories in exchange for powerful new abilities during his recent transmigration. Heading out into a whole new world as a Summoner — with his first Follower being the very goddess who brought him over! — Kelvin begins his new life as an adventurer, and it isn't long before he discovers his hidden disposition as a battle junkie. Black Summoner Anime Cast, Teaser Visual and More
According to Crunchyroll, Yoshimasa Hiraike will serve as the director and composition writer for the Black Summoner series. In addition, Miwa Oshima will serve as the character designer. The Japanese animation studio, Satelight will be in charge of the anime production. The Black Summoner series is slated to premiere sometime in 2022. The Japanese cast of Black Summoner so far includes:
- Koki Uchiyama playing protagonist Kelvin: a battle junkie who gets more excited the stronger the opponents he meets are.
- Manaka Iwami playing Ephil: an Elven battle maid.
- Reina Ueda playing Melfina: the goddess of reincarnation.
