A diverse group of 58 enthusiastic and skilled aspiring chefs, including farmers, archaeologists, and musical directors, begin the competition. The judges can anticipate a diverse explosion of flavors because all the competitors come from all over the UK, including North Wales, the Scottish Borders, Sunderland, and Dorset. They also bring their culinary and cultural heritage to the table. 

To win their MasterChef apron, contestants must complete two new tasks. 

In the first task, “basic to brilliant,” they must create something extraordinary out of a basic ingredient. In the “invention test,” they must come up with a dish using just one main ingredient, such as quail or trout. The contestants who survive will prepare two courses for three former MasterChef stars.

The cooks will work in professional kitchens at London’s Nessa and Joia restaurants after chefs and food critics assign them a task in the quarterfinals. They’ll prepare food for a special celebration of MasterChef’s past in the semi-finals, where they’ll attempt to impress Swedish chef Niklas Ekstedt. 

The last four competitors, as a twist, will fly to Singapore to prepare food for a selected group of renowned chefs, which includes MasterChef Singapore judge Damian D’Silva, at The Fullerton Bay Hotel. When they return to London, they will compete at Le Gavroche’s chef’s table before it closes, overseen by former MasterChef: The Professionals judge Michel Roux Jr.

The final three competitors will have to prepare their best three dishes for judges Wallace and Torode after one is eliminated. The twentieth MasterChef champion will be one of them.
