Google TV to Add Personalized Profiles, Watchlists, and Glanceable Cards

By Lore Apostol / October 11, 2021

Google is preparing to roll out some useful and exciting new features for Google TV. By next month, we're to see profiles and watchlists on Google TV's homepage, as well as personalized Google Assistant support for each profile user on Chromecast with Google TV and TCL and Sony Google TVs.

Of course, the platform already offers the possibility of logging in with different accounts and using Google TV with multiple accounts. However, the watchlists, content suggestions, and the Assistant were serving the primary account owner. The introduction of profiles will now make these features different for each profile, tailored individually.

Moreover, the company will later on get another new feature called “glanceable cards” on ambient mode. The cards will be shown on an idle TV, displaying personalized things like news and weather and also shortcuts for things like photos, music, or podcasts.

The tech giant introduced kids profiles for Google TV earlier this year, and a few days ago, its live tab got Philo next to the already featured Sling TV and YouTube TV.
