ExpressVPN has started rolling out local currency pricing for its privacy services, moving away from its earlier USD-only payment system for international users. The change is aimed at making subscriptions simpler and more predictable for customers in different regions.
Users in the United Kingdom, Eurozone countries, and Brazil can now pay in their local currencies - GBP, EUR, and BRL. This means prices will remain fixed and will no longer change due to daily exchange rate fluctuations.
The company is also testing and gradually enabling local pricing in Canada (CAD), Australia (AUD), Japan (JPY), Singapore (SGD), and Hong Kong (HKD). Some users in these regions may already see local currency options at checkout.
Along with currency changes, ExpressVPN says the update will allow it to introduce regional payment methods in the future. This includes Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services such as Klarna in selected markets.
The local pricing system applies to ExpressVPN’s recently introduced three-tier plans - Basic, Advanced, and Pro - with the Pro tier offering access to the company’s full privacy suite.
According to the company, the goal is to make the subscription process clearer and more convenient for users worldwide by showing the exact price they will pay, without hidden currency conversion costs.
ExpressVPN recently shifted from a single subscription plan to three options:
These plans now have fixed pricing in supported local currencies for live regions. For countries where testing is still ongoing, prices will appear directly on the checkout page instead of being published in advance.
ExpressVPN says this rollout is only the first phase of a wider localization effort.
After the UK, Europe, and Brazil, the company plans to introduce local currencies in more markets, including New Zealand (NZD) and Switzerland (CHF), in the coming weeks.
Beyond currency updates, ExpressVPN aims to support region-specific payment methods beyond standard credit cards, including BNPL services and other local systems.
While payment options are changing based on location, ExpressVPN says its services remain consistent globally. Subscriptions now include access to a broader security suite:
The company says its core privacy standards, including no-logs policies and RAM-only TrustedServer technology, remain unchanged across all regions.
