ExpressVPN Launches New Linux App with GUI for Seamless User Experience
- Previously limited to CLI, Linux users can now enjoy a seamless and simple Mac- and Windows-like interface with GUI.
- The new release introduces key security and privacy features like split tunneling, built-in kill switch, and auto-connect.
- The new Linux app supports both GUI and CLI users.
ExpressVPN has launched an all-new Linux app for its users. The new app offers a graphical user interface (GUI), making privacy protection more accessible and seamless. Until now, Linux users relied on a command-line interface (CLI) to use ExpressVPN, but with the rising popularity of Linux and increasing demand for user-friendly security solutions, the company has stepped up to provide a sleek, intuitive experience that matches its app on Mac and Windows.
The company emphasized: "With the new GUI, Linux users will now be able to take control of their online experience with a couple of clicks on the mouse."
This GUI-powered app is available in 17 languages and incorporates dark and light modes. Apart from its aesthetics, the app comes with a set of powerful security tools, like the following:
- Advanced Kill Switch: The built-in kill switch prevents data leaks if the VPN disconnects, providing enhanced security.
- Split Tunneling: You can choose which apps or IPs should use the VPN.
- Post-Quantum Encryption: Post-quantum encryption with Lightway adds extra protection against future advances posed by powerful and unethical hackers.
- VPN Protocol Options: Supports both OpenVPN and proprietary Lightway.
- Integrated Live Chat Support: Integrated in the app itself, support is just one click away now with the new app.
- Worldwide Servers: With its servers in 105 countries, ExpressVPN gives you a global reach.
ExpressVPN's Linux app's beta app is 64-bit-only and compatible with Ubuntu 24.04+, Debian 10, Fedora 30, Arch, Raspberry Pi OS Buster, and Mint 20. Additionally, the newly enhanced CLI makes sure anyone who prefers command-in controls can now gain access to full features. Notably, split tunneling and real-time app state monitoring are now available through CLI, giving power users greater flexibility to 'script and customize their VPN experience.'
The recently released Linux app is available for download today from the ExpressVPN website, with a beta version also open for testing. However, to avoid conflicts, ExpressVPN has advised its users to uninstall their existing ExpressVPN Linux app (v3 and older) before installing the new Linux app (v4). With this new and powerful innovation in VPN, ExpressVPN once again solidifies its position as the innovative leader in the world of VPN providers.
