DreamWorks Animation's The Wild Robot premiered at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 8, 2024, before its nationwide theatrical release in the United States on Sept. 27, 2024.
Plot of The Wild Robot
The Wild Robot follows Roz, a service robot stranded on a remote island after a shipwreck. Voiced by Lupita Nyong’o and directed by Chris Sanders, Roz learns to survive, gains the trust of wary animals, and adopts a gosling named Brightbill.
As Roz helps Brightbill grow, she faces dangers from both the wild and Universal Dynamics, which wants her back. A climactic battle sees Roz and the animals uniting to defend their home. In the end, Roz leaves to protect the island but promises to return, delivering a heartfelt tale of survival, family, and sacrifice.
