Apple TV+ Announces Friday Night Baseball

By Ipsita Kabiraj / March 14, 2022

Apple TV+ subscribers will now be able to enjoy major league baseball games on the platform every Friday, as Major League Baseball (MLB) and Apple recently announced that they are bringing "Friday Night Baseball" exclusively to the streaming service. The doubleheader will include live pre-game and post-game shows every week, starting April 8.

Friday Night Baseball will be available only on Apple TV+ to fans in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and South Korea as soon as the season begins. Moreover, baseball fans in the US and Canada will be able to watch MLB Big Inning, a live show presenting highlights and look-ins that will broadcast every weeknight during the regular season.

The US and Canadian audience will also be able to enjoy 24/7 live streams with MLB game replay, news, analysis, classic games, and more. Additionally, they will have access to on-demand programming, including highlights and MLB-themed original content. The company also added that there would be no local broadcast restrictions when the games and shows air on its streaming service.

Friday Night Baseball will be available on Apple TV+ "free for a limited time," so you won't need a subscription. "Baseball has a special place in the heart of so many Apple customers — not just in the United States, but in many countries around the world. We’re proud to make Apple TV+ the home for great baseball moments throughout the season," Apple's Vice President of Services Peter Stern said.

This is the first live sports deal that Apple has made since the launch of Apple TV+. MLB and Apple will also provide a supplementary league and team coverage for its audience to follow in the Apple News app as part of the deal. Fans will be able to watch game highlights there as well, Apple noted.
