Apple Has Launched a Trade-In Offer Across China That Includes The iPhone XR and XS

By Nitish Singh / December 21, 2018

If you are from China and own an iPhone 7 Plus, you can trade-in your phone for a brand-new iPhone XS for $960 or an iPhone XR for $640. A similar deal was already available in the US, and it seems like the company is expanding the offer to other parts of the world. Older iPhone models can also be exchanged but offer lower exchange values.

The limited time promotion is available till January 31st, 2019, and is limited to official Apple retail stores only. The offered prices are for the base versions of the respective devices, and if you want to upgrade to a more expensive variant of the XR or XS, you will have to pay up for more storage.

Market analysts are not optimistic about the tech giant offering its devices at a discount. It may indicate that the new devices are not seeing great sales figures. Apple has historically avoided too many major sales, and it is a rarity to see the company offering its latest devices at a discount so early into their release cycle.

Apple’s iPhones with the exception of the latest X series devices were recently banned in China due to a legal battle between the tech giant and Qualcomm. The legal battle between the two companies may also lead to the XS and XR being banned in the country so we can’t say for sure how long the offer will really last. However, Apple seems to have found a way to get the ban reversed through a software update that will stop its phones from infringing Qualcomm’s copyrights, but the concerned court is yet to come to a decision.
