Trump Mobile Reportedly Leaks Customer Data from T1 Smartphone Orders
- Data Exposure: Trump Mobile is currently leaking sensitive customer records, specifically mailing and email addresses, reports say.
- Independent Verification: High-profile purchasers of the T1 smartphone confirmed the authenticity of the compromised data.
- Order Volume Discrepancy: Database identifiers suggest approximately 30,000 units were ordered, contradicting earlier projections.
Trump Mobile, President Trump’s namesake cell phone provider and hardware manufacturer, is reportedly leaking unencrypted customer data, exposing residential mailing addresses and primary email addresses to the public internet. A researcher provided the buyers with their own leaked information, allowing them to verify the data's authenticity.
Independent Verification of Data Exposure
The data exposure was independently corroborated after YouTubers Coffeezilla and penguinz0, who both ordered the company's gold-colored T1 smartphone out of curiosity, were contacted by the security researcher.
According to Coffeezilla, the unique identifiers in the leaked dataset indicate that only 30,000 people ordered the T1 device, contrary to industry estimates published last year, which projected 590,000 preorders at a $100 reservation cost per unit.
“Do not order on trumpmobile.com unless you’re ready for your information to be leaked. It’s basically that bad,” they said.
According to the researcher who discovered the unprotected data cited by TechCrunch, attempts to establish contact with Trump Mobile administrators have been entirely unsuccessful, leaving the security vulnerability unpatched and the records exposed. Both YouTubers said it was “very easy” to access the data.
Shifting Manufacturing Claims
The device's supply chain provenance has apparently been altered. The Trump Mobile venture was initially announced with the explicit promise of delivering a "Made in the USA" smartphone. However, NBC News later reported that the official marketing materials had been altered.
Current documentation now describes the hardware as being "designed with American values in mind" and "shaped by American innovation."
In other news, a researcher claimed that a bug in Android 16's VPN implementation can leak users’ real IP addresses. In June 2025, a Mobile security crisis was attributed to Chinese hackers exploiting smartphone flaws and user lapses.
