ExpressVPN Introduces ExpressAI, a Privacy-Focused AI Platform
- ExpressAI privacy-focused AI platform: ExpressAI privacy-focused AI platform ensures zero access encryption no training and secure confidential computing interactions
- Confidential computing architecture: Platform isolates user data in secure enclaves preventing access by providers infrastructure or external entities
- Multi-model AI with audit validation: Multiple AI models web search credits system and Cure53 audit confirm functionality and privacy claims
ExpressVPN has unveiled ExpressAI, a new artificial intelligence platform designed with privacy at its core. The company positions it as an alternative to conventional AI tools that often log, store, or reuse user data.
The platform is built to ensure that user interactions remain private, offering AI capabilities without requiring users to give up control over their personal information.
Built Around Zero-Access Privacy
Unlike many AI services that retain user prompts or use them for model training, ExpressAI follows a different approach. The platform is designed so that conversations, files, and inputs are not accessible to anyone, not even ExpressVPN or the underlying AI model providers.
Every interaction runs inside a confidential computing environment, often described as a secure enclave. In this setup, data is cryptographically isolated from the rest of the system, meaning it cannot be viewed, accessed, or monitored externally.
Encryption keys are generated within the hardware itself, ensuring that conversations remain sealed off from infrastructure operators, cloud providers, and third parties. As a result, access to user data is not just restricted; it is technically impossible.
The platform also ensures that no data is used to train AI models and that no human reviews user interactions. Conversation history, if saved, is protected with zero-access encryption, allowing only the user to decrypt it.
Users can also enable a “Ghost Mode,” which automatically deletes conversations after use. Uploaded files and images follow the same encryption standards, maintaining consistent protection across all inputs.
Independently Audited Security
To validate its claims, ExpressAI underwent an independent security audit conducted by Cure53. The assessment, carried out in February and March 2026, included penetration testing and a full review of the platform’s frontend, backend, cryptographic systems, and infrastructure.
According to the audit findings, all identified vulnerabilities were resolved before launch. The firm noted that the platform meets its stated privacy goals by processing user interactions in cryptographically isolated environments.
This independent verification is intended to provide users with additional confidence in the platform’s security model.
Multiple AI Models in One Interface
ExpressAI combines several AI models within a single interface, allowing users to select the most suitable model for their needs or compare outputs side by side.
The available models include:
- GPT OSS 120B for general writing and reasoning tasks
- DeepSeek R1 Distill 32B for complex, multi-step problem solving
- Qwen2.5-VL 32B for image and document analysis
- Qwen3.5 35B-A3B for coding and multilingual tasks
- Nemotron 12B for technical and mathematical use cases
The platform also features built-in web search, enabling models to fetch real-time information while maintaining user anonymity.
ExpressAI operates directly in a web browser and includes a structured usage system. Users receive 500 credits per day, where each prompt consumes one credit per model used. The service also supports file uploads up to 50MB per file and offers 2GB of secure storage for saved data.
Availability and Access
ExpressAI began rolling out on March 31, 2026, and is available to new and existing users on ExpressVPN’s Pro subscription plan.
The company is positioning the platform as part of its broader move into integrated privacy services, offering AI capabilities alongside tools like VPN protection and password management under a single subscription.
A New Approach to AI Privacy
With AI increasingly becoming a space where users draft ideas, analyze sensitive data, and explore personal topics, ExpressVPN highlights the growing importance of privacy in such interactions.
ExpressAI reflects a shift toward systems that do not rely on collecting or analyzing user data to function effectively. Instead, it emphasizes a model where privacy is built into the architecture itself.
The company states that the platform aims to provide modern AI functionality without requiring users to compromise on data security, setting a different standard for how AI tools handle personal information.
