A man from Oklahoma, taken into custody for receiving and sharing child pornography, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison. Jason Gardner Davis, 52, admitted his crimes before the court.
Davis accepted responsibility for his conduct and acknowledged the sexual gratification he derived from it.
“Court records show that Davis was chatting with an undercover agent through a social media app and distributed child sexual abuse material to the undercover agent,” read the U.S. DOJ press release addressing Davis’s sentencing.
In an undercover operation, federal agents posed as online contacts on a social media platform and interacted with Davis to gather further information about him. He was traced through the social media app, following which the team searched his home.
While chatting with the undercover agents, Davis sent explicit content of children to them. His cellphone was recovered with 99 images and 39 videos of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). This included “images of pre-pubescent children being sexually abused, and images of sadistic conduct, on Davis’ cellphone,” the DOJ press release added.
Forensic analysis of Davis’s phone revealed that he received the online content from October 2022 to February 2023, which featured minors in explicit activity. After his prison time, he will remain in supervised release for the next 10 years, Judge Russell announced.
He was also ordered to pay $5,100 in restitution. He will be transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. This law enforcement action was part of the Project Safe Childhood campaign protecting children from online abuse.
Similar arrests under the child safety initiative show that exploiting children leads to serious consequences for offenders.
