When & Where did The Alto Knights film?
Filming took place in December 2022, primarily in Ohio. The production made use of vehicle vinyl wraps to make 1950s-era cars appear new. Filming locations included Greene County, where US 35 was shut down, as well as the greater Cincinnati area and its suburbs.
Behind the Scenes
The Alto Knights is an upcoming American biographical crime drama directed by Barry Levinson, with a screenplay by Nicholas Pileggi, best known for Goodfellas and Casino. Produced by Levinson, Irwin Winkler, and others, the film is executive produced by Mike Drake. The screenplay is based on Pileggi’s novel Wiseguy: Life in a Mafia Family, which inspired Goodfellas.
Levinson, who previously collaborated with De Niro on films like Wag the Dog and The Wizard of Lies, praised De Niro in an interview for his ability to portray two distinct characters, calling it “like working with two different actors.” Levinson has described the film as the story of “best friends who become mortal enemies.”
