After its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, Unstoppable has garnered positive reviews from critics. As of October 30, the film holds a "Fresh" score of 74% on Rotten Tomatoes.
In his review for Variety, chief film critic Owen Gleiberman praised the sports drama, calling it "the rare sports crowd-pleaser you can believe in." He particularly highlighted Jennifer Lopez’s performance, describing it as “the fullest screen performance she has ever given.” Additionally, Gleiberman commended the subtle intensity of actor Jerome, noting that his portrayal was “gentle and pensive, with eyes that are orbs of intensity.”
Behind the Scenes
Unstoppable is produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity and directed by William Goldenberg, who is known for his work as an Oscar-nominated editor. But this is his directorial debut. Goldenberg collaborated with screenwriters Eric Champnella, Alex Harris, and John Hindman for the adaptation of Robles’ memoir, co-authored with Austin Murphy.
