Netflix Sees Mobile Revenue Grow Past $1.5 Billion in November

By Bill Toulas / December 8, 2018

Netflix has set a new record this November, with its mobile app on the App Store and Google Play bringing in a gross revenue of $86.6 million from all around the globe.

This figure was published by Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data, and it is 77% higher than the corresponding period in 2017. Compared to the next most prolific month for Netflix which was July 2018, this November was 2.3% higher, so it was a record-breaking month for the California-based media streaming colossus.

In total, and since Netflix established the monetization model for their mobile media services platform, it has grossed around $1.58 billion from 137 million subscribers worldwide. US-based subscribers accounted for 57% of last month’s revenue, which essentially surpassed Netflix global sales figure of November 2017. These numbers are indicative of the solid growth achieved by Netflix during the past two years, maintaining a year over year revenue increase rate of about 75%. Other countries besides the US that played a key role in this growth include Germany, Brazil, South Korea, and Japan, all of which contribute more than $1 million in gross revenue.

Netflix is not planning to brood the revenue and focus on extending their net profits just yet, as the company’s strategic plan is to expand their production and distribution of films and series content. The streaming company is still in a long-term obligations dept that is continuously raised in an effort to fund the production of more “Netflix Original” content. This approach seems to be working perfectly so far, with Netflix finding this content to be increasing its diversity and thus helping achieve a rising acceptance in the 190 countries that it is currently available in.
