BitMart is a now-infamous crypto exchange, fit for more advanced level traders due to its unwieldy interface. It's been in the spotlight recently for a major hack (upwards of $196 million), plus many customer complaints about losing access to their funds. While a BitMart VPN won't protect you from such poor service, it's still the best tool to keep your transactions private and safe from individual hacking attempts.
Do you need a VPN to be able to access BitMart, though? Well, according to the company's support page:
"BitMart allows customers to create accounts, use basic functions (deposits, Buy & Sell, withdraw 0.06 BTC daily) without submitting KYC information."
So anything over the 0.06 BTC, and you'll have to go through KYC verification. That's great news if you're just in it for low-stake trades with tokens that are unavailable on other crypto exchanges. And considering the recent BitMart hack in which $200 million worth of assets were stolen, we'd consider that to be the safer approach.
As for platform restrictions, you can't withdraw fiat currencies from BitMart in the following countries:
Afghanistan, China, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), Cuba, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, South Sudan, Sudan, and the state of New York in the US.
That said, BitMart doesn't seem to restrict account creation in these regions (tested with New York and Japan VPN servers). In other words, you're free to sign up with BitMart - but you'll most likely need a VPN to unblock any other exchanges you want to use in tandem (Binance, KuCoin, Uphold, and more).
How to Use a VPN on BitMart
Securing your data on BitMart with a VPN is simple enough. Just follow the steps below, and you're good to go:
- Sign up with a capable BitMart VPN (ExpressVPN is a beginner-friendly option, try it risk-free for 30 days).
- Download their app on any device(s) you plan to use for trading.
- Launch the VPN and log in with your account info.
- Connect to a VPN server close to your location for the most optimal speeds.
To prevent any issues, avoid servers located in any of the restricted countries listed above. BitMart might understandably ramp up security in response to the massive cyber heist on their platform, so it's best to keep it safe.
Other than that, we recommend keeping your VPN on at all times, especially when trading crypto on BitMart. Or any other platform for that matter, particularly ones that have more stringent geo-restriction rules than BitMart. It's also worth connecting to the same VPN server you used to create your account. Getting your account frozen for a simple change in IP address isn't exactly fun.
Best VPN for BitMart
What features does a BitMart VPN need for the best user experience? Well, impenetrable encryption, leak protection, and a kill switch to prevent identity leaks are a must-have. The latter is especially useful on crypto sites that impose strict geo-blocks as well. Next up, the provider needs a decent server network with great coverage and easy-to-use apps on all compatible platforms.
Any extra security features are a welcome bonus. Based on these criteria, we believe these are the 5 best VPNs for BitMart that money can buy:
- ExpressVPN - Best All-round VPN for BitMart
- NordVPN - Best BitMart VPN with Extra Security Features
- CyberGhost VPN - Self-Owned NoSpy Servers
- Private Internet Access (PIA) - Best VPN for BitMart US Market
- Surfshark - Best Crypto VPN with Unlimited Devices
1. ExpressVPN - Best All-round VPN for BitMart
|Try Risk-Free|| |
ExpressVPN's high-performance fleet of RAM-based servers is spread across 94 countries - great news for active traders looking to spread their crypto portfolio across multiple platforms. Naturally, you won't have trouble finding a fast, local server to trade on BitMart if you just want to stick to one exchange.
The provider's no-logs policy has been independently audited, guaranteeing that none of your data is stored anywhere on their network. Powering your transactions is its new Lightway protocol, which offers military-grade encryption with improved performance over OpenVPN. Of course, you're still free to use OpenVPN if you prefer, as well as IKEv2 or L2TP/ IPSec. Note that we don't recommend the latter for crypto trading, banking, or other financial operations.
The ExpressVPN app comes with a kill switch that shuts off your Internet connection if the VPN disconnects. Not only will this prevent your IP from leaking, but you won't risk getting a temporary ban for changing IPs on various crypto sites. Finally, the built-in Threat Manager will prevent trackers from creating a profile of your online behavior for a touch of extra privacy.
We cover all of these features in more detail in our ExpressVPN review, so go check that out for the full scoop.
- Easy to use apps.
- Powerful servers in 94 countries.
- Robust no-logs policy.
- Privacy-friendly HQ.
- Blocks tracking (Threat Manager).
- Five device limit.
- Not much customization.
2. NordVPN - Best BitMart VPN with Extra Security Features
Privacy is the name of the game when it comes to NordVPN. From its privacy-friendly jurisdiction of Panama to its audited no-logs policy, bank-grade encryption, and RAM-based servers, the provider is an excellent pick for crypto trading. That's not the end of it, though, as NordVPN also includes a kill switch to avoid getting your account frozen on Binance and other, more restrictive exchanges than BitMart.
If you don't mind the slower speeds, NordVPN includes a double VPN option. This encapsulates your traffic in a second layer of encryption and reroutes your data through multiple servers to better cover your online tracks. Couple that with obfuscated servers that can mask your VPN traffic as regular HTTPS traffic, and you have the necessary tools to go truly "incognito."
Next up, its Threat Protection feature blocks intrusive (and possibly dangerous) ads and trackers and even scans your attachments and downloaded files for any threats. And if you've got the extra budget, NordVPN offers a dedicated IP option, so you don't share the same address with thousands of others. Good idea on exchanges with IP-based security checks and similar scenarios.
Read up on all these (and more) in our in-depth NordVPN review.
- Privacy-first jurisdiction.
- Audited no-logs policy.
- Plenty of extra security options.
- Dedicated IP option.
- Threat Protection.
- Server coverage worse than competition.
3. CyberGhost VPN - Self-Owned NoSpy Servers
Strong encryption (with Wireguard support), an always-on kill switch, and a zero logs policy - you don't need much else from a VPN for trading on BitMart. Of course, CyberGhost VPN goes one step beyond its usual no-logs policy by providing quarterly transparency reports as well.
The dedicated IP option returns if you don't want to share the same address with other users. Makes perfect sense for crypto traders since someone else's behavior can get you blacklisted on certain exchanges (possibly BitMart as well). A good example is receiving CAPTCHA requests from Google while using a VPN; nowhere near as bad as having your account frozen, but still irritating nonetheless.
For less than a dollar more on your subscription, CyberGhost VPN users can gain access to the provider's self-operated NoSpy servers located at their HQ in Romania. No dealing with third-party data centers, so there are fewer chances for any mishaps, rogue employee attacks, and similar threats.
Check out our CyberGhost VPN review for anything else we haven't covered here.
- No-logs policy with transparency reports.
- Large network, good coverage.
- Option for dedicated IP.
- Faster, self-owned servers.
- Requires fast connection.
- NoSpy servers at extra cost.
4. Private Internet Access (PIA) - Best VPN for BitMart US Market
PIA offers all the industry-standard features expected of a BitMart VPN: military-grade encryption (including Wireguard), a no-logs policy that stood strong in court (twice), a kill switch, and a generous ten device limit. The provider's apps include PIA MACE, which blocks trackers, malware and phishing domains, and other threats that can quickly put a hamper on your crypto trading career.
While Private Internet Access covers a decent 78 countries around the world, a large chunk of its massive network is focused around the United States, making it an excellent option for US traders. Some of you may scoff at the provider's "Five Eyes" jurisdiction, but PIA has thoroughly proven that it has no intention of sabotaging its users' privacy for any reason.
PIA offers more advanced customization options for those times when no VPN seems to work on the local network (whether it's on-campus wi-fi, at work, hotels, and other public locations). And, as always, there's a dedicated IP option for the most dedicated investors out there.
Feel free to check out our complete PIA review for further details of interest.
- Huge US-centric server network.
- No-logs claims proven in court.
- Very customizable.
- Blocks threats via PIA MACE.
- Dedicated IP available.
- Based in "Five Eyes" country.
- Not the best speeds.
5. Surfshark - Best Crypto VPN with Unlimited Devices
Surfshark is a newer provider on the scene but fully capable of securing your crypto trades on BitMart, Binance, or any other exchange. You get strong encryption (yes, Wireguard is available), a no-nonsense no-logs policy, a helpful kill switch, and private DNS servers. Add CleanWeb to the list of security features, which blocks ads, privacy-intrusive trackers, as well as phishing and malware domains.
If you have a faster connection, you can always turn on double VPN for an extra layer of privacy and security. Meanwhile, Camouflage Mode activates obfuscation to hide your VPN activity in countries like China, Russia, and other places where crypto may be restricted.
Finally, a Surfshark subscription doesn't limit how many devices you can connect at any one time- fitting for busy investors with lots of gadgets lying around or sharing an account with your family and trading buddies.
Take a look at our Surfshark review to find out more details about the provider.
- No device limits.
- Strong no logs policy.
- Bonus security features.
- Camouflage Mode.
- Threat blocking via CleanWeb.
- Connection times could use some work.
No matter which VPN provider you end up choosing, you're guaranteed to have a secure and private trading experience on BitMart. Well, aside from all the hackers stealing private wallet keys business. Thankfully, there are many other exchanges out there that aren't mired in controversy.
If you decide to stick with BitMart for whatever reason, at least take advantage of their no KYC below 0.06 BTC policy to gain access to tokens you can't get anywhere else. And don't forget to use a VPN, no matter the platform.
Our recommendation is ExpressVPN, simply for their top-notch security, great speeds, and amazing server coverage. Of course, we've covered 10 more providers in our list of the best VPNs overall if you'd like to weigh more options.
