Proton VPN's 2025 Spring Updates
Over the spring, Proton VPN introduced several key improvements aimed at performance, usability, and security. The NetShield Ad-blocker was one of the most significant enhancements. In order to provide better protection against harmful websites and prevent false positives, it now blocks nearly all known phishing domains. Additionally, the iOS and Android apps were tuned to last longer on batteries. In comparison to existing VPNs, this technology can now automatically identify network conditions that might be slowing users down and adjust the connection for quicker speeds, increasing performance by up to 400%. The server network also saw a major expansion, with over 3,000 new servers added, bringing the total to more than 13,000 servers across 120+ countries. Proton VPN also improved its ability to stream content. Users can now access services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ from more countries. On the Windows and Android apps, users can now stay connected to their smart home devices, like printers and washing machines, without disconnecting from the VPN. The Windows app got a system tray widget for quick VPN access, and the Android app introduced a new light theme for users who prefer a brighter look.

- Split Tunneling for Linux and macOS
- Split tunneling is coming to Linux and macOS, letting users decide which apps or services go through the VPN and which ones connect directly to the internet. This feature helps balance privacy and convenience.
- Port Forwarding on macOS
- Already available on Windows and Linux, port forwarding will be added to macOS, enhancing P2P file sharing and gaming speeds.
- Anti-Censorship Upgrades
