Can You Watch Disney Plus on TiVo?

By Gabriela Vatu / January 6, 2021

For many years, TiVo has been the go-to brand when it comes to recording all your cable broadcasts, but with the expansion of online streaming, are they keeping up? Can we watch Disney Plus on TiVo? Well, let's find out.

Upon its launch back in November 2019, watching Disney Plus on Tivo was a pipe dream since all TiVo products served cable only. Now, however, things have changed quite a bit.

Released in May 2020, TiVo's new Stream 4K dongle helps folks watch Disney Plus and pretty much anything else they want. The Stream 4K device even offers some features that you don't get with other similar tools, like universal search across both streaming and live TV, combined recommendations from multiple streaming apps, live TV from Sling, and more.

TiVo Stream 4K Stats and Perks

TiVo's newest dongle allows the brand to enter the streaming field. The device supports 4K UHD, Dolby Vision HDR, and Dolby Amos, and it comes with Google Assistant, Chromecast, and voice remote control.

The device is powered by Android TV, which means you have access to thousands of apps in the Google Play Store. Plus, since it has built-in Chromecast support, you'll also get to cast content from your smartphone or laptop.

TiVo Stream 4K connects to a TV via an HDMI port, and you can control it with a remote or by voice after tapping the Google Assistant button. While you can use this feature to bypass searching for movies and shows by typing, you can also use it to check the weather or look for things via Google. It's even possible to control your smart home devices.

While TiVo is a name that has been associated with recording your favorite content off the TV for decades, there is no such possibility with TiVo Stream 4K, even if live TV streams via Sling are a possibility.

The TiVo Stream 4K costs $49.99 and doesn't require any plans.

TiVo Stream 4K Apps

As mentioned, on the TiVo Stream 4K dongle, you can add a ton of apps, starting with Disney Plus. You can also add other similar apps for services you may be subscribed to, like Netflix, Prime Video, Sling TV, YouTube, Hulu, CBS All Access, Peacock, Showtime, Starz, and others.

It's also possible to access free content from the likes of Pluto TV, Tubi, Tastemade, Cheddar, Newsy, USA Today, Wired, and Funny or Die.

How to Watch Disney Plus on TiVo Stream 4K?

Watching Disney Plus on the TiVo Stream 4K is certainly going to be an experience, and it's super easy to do. We're going to guide you through it, assuming you've already set up the dongle on your TV.

Now that TiVo Stream 4K is an option, sticking to the brand is possible even as you move more towards streaming pretty much all your content.
