Why Is South Park Not on Hulu?

By Aparna Jayan / July 19, 2021

South Park is one of the very few sitcoms that has managed to stay relevant even after 20 years of its launch. Its satirical take on serious happenings across the world seems to resonate with a large number of people. Fans looked for it on one of their favorite platforms, but why is South Park not on Hulu? Let's find out.

Being one of the most comprehensive streaming platforms available on the market, Hulu did have South Park in its On-Demand library. But this is old news now, as South Park is no longer available on Hulu.

It was in 2014 when Hulu acquired the rights for South Park from South Park Digital Studio. The contract expired on June 23rd, 2020, and ever since then, episodes of the long-running American sitcom have been removed from Hulu.

Soon after, the show was purchased by WarnerMedia, which is the parent company of HBO. All the 23 seasons of South Park are now available on HBO Max, and the latest episodes can be viewed the very next day after they air on Comedy Central (which is its original network). South Park has been renewed for three more seasons, so the show is going to be on HBO Max for a really long time!

However, you can get HBO Max as one of the premium add-ons offered by Hulu. So, Add HBO Max to your Hulu base plan for an extra $14.99/month. When done, you can stream all HBO Max content using the HBO Max app.

With this premium add-on, users can now access every episode of South Park within the Hulu subscription. Check out all the premium packages and add-ons available on Hulu here!

Created by Terry Parker and Matt Stone, South Park revolves around the lives of four boys, namely Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick. Living in the fictional town of South Park, the four boys go about their day unraveling the everyday happenings of the town. It is one of the top-rated shows of Comedy Central and has always been able to meet the viewers' expectations.
