Attack on Titan's Final Season is currently underway, and since becoming one of the most popular anime series of all time, it has many questions surrounding it. One of the most common questions in the AOT fandom concern two of our favorite Ackermans: Levi and Mikasa. Since the beginning of the series, fans have speculated if Levi and Mikasa are related because of their last names.

In addition to their last names, the two also possess natural but monstrous strength and exceptional combat abilities. Since several people in the fandom also believe that Levi and Mikasa are not related because there is no evidence to support opposing claims. There are plenty of confused fans wondering if the two have any familial connection. Let's take a look.

Mikasa Ackerman and Levi Ackerman

The Ackerman Family was once a family of warriors who protected the King and one of the few bloodlines immune to the Royal family's power. The anime series revealed that the Ackermans were once the "King's sword" and his biggest supporters. However, after King Fritz modified the memories of all subjects of Ymir, they betrayed the monarchy along with the Oriental clan.

This resulted in the descendants of the two clans being hunted across generations, making them almost extinct. The only known members of the Ackerman Clan in the series are Mikasa Ackerman and her late parents, Levi Ackerman and his mother, and Kenny Ackerman and his grandfather. While the Ackerman family possesses exceptional combat strength and skill, it seems that the descendants of this clan are not fully aware of their abilities.

This could also be because of the harsh treatment that their clan has had to face since the powers of the King did not affect them. It's possible that because of being targetted for their bloodline, the Ackermans stopped passing on the knowledge of the outside world and King Fritz to their descendants.

Mikasa tells Levi and Hange about the Ackermans.

However, speaking of Levi Ackerman and Mikasa Ackerman specifically, they are related in some way. Levi and Mikasa are definitely not siblings. Levi grew up in the underground city, and his mother, Kuchel Ackerman, passed away when he was a child. On the other hand, Mikasa lived with her parents in Shiganshina. Not to mention, Levi is at least 15 years older than Mikasa, so there's no way that the two are siblings.

However, Levi and Mikasa originate from the same clan. Fans who have been keeping up with the series will know that Mikasa is also part of the Shogun clan in addition to being an Ackerman. So, to answer the question, yes, Levi and Mikasa probably have an ancestral blood connection because they both originate from the Ackerman clan. As for being personally related, it does not seem possible.

Mikasa tries to take the Titan serum from Levi to save Armin forcefully.
